I followed the Titan XD release at the end of 2015 and begining of 2016. Some dealers were asking $80k for a $65k MSRP. LOL. Damned dealers. Those things sold so badly the out of date Tundra was smoking them. Now you can find them $15k below MSRP all over the place. What a bunch of idoits

That is the beauty of a “self correcting” market.... consumer demand will eventually prevail. This is why Government intervention in matters concerning free market goods has always failed.

+1. For example, government intervention in vehicle safety controls has failed. Free market would eventually have sorted it out for sure based on injury and death counts. Ok, perhaps forum members daughters or sons might get killed in the interim, but rest assured the beauty of free market would prevail. ;)

I just posted this on another thread. AirPark Jeep in Scottsdale, AZ has a few JLs in transit. If you click on the “view on dealer website” link the prices on their website are signicantly higher than MSRP-like $4000 plus over. Totally ridiculous!

Call me a fan of natural selection and Darwin.... but thinning out the herd is sometimes a good thing. Judging by some of the comments I’ve read, I’m surprised a few made it thus far.

. This is why the government had to bailout the automotive industry?

I’d think it’d be wise you steer clear of addressing me, for your egos sake. Comprende?

You’re not even qualified to have an opinion on an industry you can’t grasp. And didn’t you already “exit” this thread or was that just another drama tantrum. Rhetorical question.

Well if we must discuss the merits of Government and it’s impact on society and commerce outside of the original context/direction of my comments then it’s all subjective. However if parties want to get into the Lobbying, tariff and other red tape that chokes down industry and growth, cool. Government is its own worst enemy... that’s my opinion.

Either way it’s subjective.... just like saying the current generation has higher IQs where Oregon has proved simpletons can’t even pump gas. But at least they can find Facebook to post pictures of themselves! Talk about some real earth moving shit right there.

And if anyone wants to really get deep into how smart this current generation is, let me pose this why is there no Americans studying under Dr. Michio Kaku? Per the Dr. himself it’s because the US hasn’t produced any smart enough to weed out the foreign visa students that are getting the honor. Call me crazy, but if I read between the lines, students from LESS developed countries are more driven to learn and advance.

Oh and leaded fuel has not entirely disappeared... and the purpose of was specific to engine technology at the time which was and continues to advance from. Even without the government.... it like saying Al Gore invented the internet. Technology and inventors with drive is what pushes us forward.

If we really want to get into some in depth engineering and tech discussions, let’s discuss why the Oil industry is surrounded with mystery and death of inventions that help render them obsolete... Or reduce their profitability... wait then we have to discuss the removal of the US from the gold standard and OPECs oil standard... spoiler alert! It’s a rabbit hole.

While I’m sure we can have great discussions over beer and I’m sure it’d be entertaining, I don’t think this is the medium for that.

Free markets have merit, as does governance to address issues with free markets. The two examples I provided (safety and health) were related to the automotive industry, where governance addressed issues not effectively addressed by free markets. In summary, I don't think the claim "government intervention in matters concerning free market goods has always failed" is valid.

I went to the lake elsinore jeep dealer here in southern California, I asked to inquire about ordering a new 2018 JL wrangler, the manger came out and said that there is 4 out of 5 slots left to order one, it's going to be $5000 on top of the MSRP. Also tried to say it's limited production vehicle. I walked out I'm on my way to the Temecula jeep dealer now.

Again context and semantics... I see a lot in your points as things that were brought about by lobbyists and personal profit, which again the merits of can be debated as both good and bad. I’m sure we can each cite circumstances to counterall night. Point is when free market is left to itself that is when the most growth is experienced which is exactly opposite when Government has tried to control something..... it kills growth off choking it with regulations. So we’ll just agree to disagree.
