Fender liners. Yes? No?

We all see jeeps on the trail with modified fender flares. Some folks have liners behind, others leave the entire affair open. What say you?

I have MC fenders and liners. To me having the liners tucked up into the wheel well just makes sense.

Exactly how I feel, but out here in hot deserts I've had people tell me to leave them open for cooling.

There's plenty of airflow between the grill, the fender vents, and the wide open underside. You're better off keeping the wheelwells closed off with liners. They will protect a lot of sensitive bits that are specifically located behind them. They will also minimize dirt and contaminants from being slung into the engine compartment. Dirt both leads to corrosion over the long term, and will insulate heat from escaping metallic engine components. Aluminum liners will help reject heat. To sum it up, there's far too many benefits of having liners vs a bit more airflow.

I've had those liners for over 2 years now and they still look amazing on the rare occasions that they are clean. I opted for them to be finished in satin black powder coat.

Any aluminum liner is open to rattling, especially the very high tuck options like AAL. It can be caused by an area that overlaps and lightly touches the frame. That happened to both of my front liners, but was easily quieted by simply pulling out that area just the slightest bit by hand to create a gap. Also, I had a couple of wiring harnesses that had to be flexed inward to not rub the inside of the liner. Again, all high tuck liners are open to it, but is easily remedied.

I’ve read the AAL is more prone due to attachment points to frame. Glad it’s an easy fix. Looks awesome ?

Went from DV8 fronts to Artec front and rear inners to clear Falcon piggyback shocks and eliminate rubbing when flexed.

I‘d definitely install front inners to protect exposed engine compartment bits like the windshield wiper fluid tank. Rears just kinda complete the look.

Do you have the Falcon 3.3 shocks? How do you like the liners? Are you still running the stock fenders? I have the stock fenders and have been thinking of the Artec liners can you still adjust your shocks? Do you have any more pictures?

To those with the Artec liners. I have the Anti rock sway bar on the rear. I have been really flexing out the jeep out the anti rock is now sometimes catching on my stock liners . Do you think they would clear the Artec ok?

Yeah, Falcon 3.3 shocks. Run them medium on paved roads and soft on the trails. Hard is too stiff.

Artec inner fenders that rub a little bit but don’t care. Fenders are DV8.

Honestly, I’d install the Falcons and hack away at the stock inner fenders and see how you like them with those and the stock fenders.

I buy Jeeps with painted fenders now to prevent me from going down this road again. ?
