FCA pushes broken Uconnect update

what happened that made it a s show?

I don't remember the exact timeline, but it was supposed to come out last spring and was delayed. Then it was released individually starting over the summer, and by fall many people still did not have it. Turns out it was not compatible with many of the earlier radios, so they stopped the updates altogether. They then made it available for download for a period of time, before realizing that there was a problem with that one too. Ultimately it was completed but took about 9 months or so. Oh, and the main issue with the delay is that the $150 map update that many people paid for couldn't load the maps until they had the new software.

How does it get an update over the air? Is it through the guardian service, or does it borrow web access from a connected phone?
Great question, I thought the same thing. I cleared all factory settings, which included Gaurdian service, I hoping that was their way in. So, Im not going to re-sign in with free Gaurdian service until I know whatever they are pushing is right.

Excellent idea! Let us know how it works out. I should have mine in a day or two and, well, inquiring minds want to know...

I do have some updates on this for you. Please know that this reboot issue was not related to a Uconnect update. We have identified that the concern is related to SiriusXM Travel Link services. In the next 48 hours we’ll temporarily suspend the Travel Link feature in order to cease the reboot. We appreciate your patience.

Will this roll out OTA at the same time or will it be region by region? If the problem was isolated, why wait 48 hours?

I guess this only applies to the 8.4in U since the 7in U does not have guardian capabilities.

Did it stop or does it constantly continue to do this?
Nope twice, each for a few seconds. Then gone all working normal. I didn't go into the nav where they say the problem is and check it. I'm afraid to, so I ain't.

My JK did the Sirus update all the time, this was not that.

I call UConnect, again. They tell me that now all calls about this issue are being transferred to Sirius. I get transferred to Sirius. Spoke to 3 Sirius representatives that have absolutely no clue of the rebooting issue even existing. :angry:
