Hey folks, maybe this goes in another place, but I am stumped. I am working on a 2018 JL Rubicon unlimited that was in a wreck. Both Impact and water damage. I have been through a fair amount of the wiring and have had to replace both the body control module as well as the occupancy restraint module. I now have it running and drivable, but the 4-wheel drive does not engage. More specifically the FAD actuator is not shifting the collar over to engage both the inner and outer passenger side shafts. I have a second axle and have pulled the FAD actuator off of it and still no dice. I have pulled the actuator apart and applied power to the motor itself and am able to move the fork both in and out. I've chased the wiring back to the connector at the passenger rear wheel well and continuity tests do not indicate any broken wires. Am I at the point of ordering a new actuator or is there some other testing that I need to look at to accurately diagnose the issue. As a side question, is there cross talk from the FAD to the front locker? I assume that the Front Locker won't engage unless the Position sensor for the FAD is in the engaged position. I apologize for the long-winded question, but I would appreciate any help you all may have.

Tazer and I think jscan can turn the fad off. You may can try that to test if the 4wd is working. Many people who go to aftermarket axle shafts get a one piece shaft for that side and delete the Fad. Or they get a whole new after market axle that doesn’t have a fad and need to turn off the fad in the computer. Either way turning it off with one of those two “programmers” can Atleast let you test the 4wd function while trying to trace down the fad issue.

wish I could be more help on the fad issue.

Thanks for the info. I have J scan. I’ll have to try that function out.
