Factory antenna interior connector type

In the passenger footwell area is where the antenna feed line meets a junction between the line off of the radio, and the line that exits the vehicle to the antenna mount. It’s a threaded coax type connector. Does anyone know what type of connector this is so I can order a male end?

I’m relocating the factory AM/FM antenna and need to run a much longer feed line to the tailgate but don’t know what this connector is

The connection type at the radio is a "Fakra" connector that are keyed differently for a given use. If the connection behind the glove box is a threaded connection, it could be an "F" style connector that's typically used for a cable connection like your TV.

Awesome, thanks. It is similar in appearance to an F connector, but I don’t think I’ve tried one yet. I went through my junk drawer of ham parts and couldn’t find a match. Never thought to try a proper F. I think what I have in there now is a VERY poorly made fakra to slide on F adapter. The stick on antenna terminates in a male fakra. It fits so loosely and poorly made it has to be held together by a girdle of electrical tape. I discounted it being an F because of that. I never thought to try a quality female F.

I put a 10m antenna in place of the factory antenna and have been using a cheap stick on antenna on top of the sound bar. It’s bubble gummed together with no shielding, and there’s a lot of interference from the LED lighting and cell phone with abysmal reception range.

My plan is to solder on the proper connector to a CB feed line, and connect it via 259 to a gate mounted CB whip. I’m running a 25w UHF/VHF on the drivers side, and a 90w HF on the passenger side up front, so stuffing the AM/FM antenna next to the spare with a proper shielded feed line should increase it’s reception without being overpowered by RF.

I dug into it to wire up the AM/FM antenna. The threaded coax connector I was remembering was something I added early on when I converted the factory antenna location into a 10m antenna. The factory connector is actually a Z-type connector. I had some Z leads laying around so I was able to convert the Z to a PL-259 to feed a firestik acting as an AM/FM receive only antenna. Significant improvement in noise reduction and reception over the cheap stick on 4” dipole I was using before on top of the sound bar.

And if anyone was wondering who I’m running a firestik on the tailgate for terrestrial radio, it’s because I’m out of space up front with my HF and UHF/VHF antennas.
