Ive been reading about the poor quality of the factory 12V battery causing issues with error messages. I'm at nearly 2 years and 35,500 miles on my 2023 Sahara 4 door 4xe, and I'm getting ready to take a 4400 round trip to the Oregon coast (from Illinois). I haven't had any issues (except being alarmed when the jeep is sounding like a jet airplane ready to take off when it is charging), but I'll ask the questions anyway.
Other than an oil change/tire rotation and general inspection, should I be concerned about the factory 12V battery before this long a trip?

Even though it is part of the charging system specific to the Jeep, is it advisable to get a new battery (when needed) somewhere other than Jeep? Will it affect the extended warranty? If answers are yes and no respectively, what battery is recommended?

The 4xe 12v battery is usually fine. Assuming you don't let it sit for extended periods of time it should last 3-5 years on average. The normal S/S setup is the one people have issues with. Those last 1-2 years.

If you let the 12v drain till dead you should probably replace it, as the AGM batteries do not take deep discharge/recharges very well.

You are probably good for another year. You can get a battery anywhere, it shouldn't affect your warranty. A new AGM is the way to go, Walmart typically has the best price.

My experience with OEM Mopar batteries, I had a dash camera in both my Ram 1500 and moved to my Jeep that was powered via the OBD port. The camera “woke up” both vehicles too frequently and ran the battery down. Neither battery ever seemed to recover despite extended time on a charger.

I replaced the camera and wiring (I know, my fault, I was lazy) AND replaced the 12 volt battery in the Jeep, and all is well.

if you haven’t done something like what I did I suspect you will be fine,
