12V battery replacement

I dont need to replace the 12v now, but I might proactively do it since its been about 2 years and we all know the 12v that comes with the Jeep is crap. Just a note to anyone who is looking at replacement. I have been using this specific battery in my RAM 1500 that sits around a lot and so far (about 2 years I am using this) I am very impressed with it.

I believe this will fit in our 4Xe too -

I plan to switch to that X2Power or the Odyssey within a year of ownership to hopefully bypass the issues that come up with the 12V system.

It definitely fits/ is known to fit, in the JL/JT Main battery tray once the plastic stay is removed from the battery box. (If your JL already has an H7 in it the stay will already be out of the battery box.)

Good call, mine died at 25 months and allowing it to actually die locked out the HV Interupt.

Do take the time to read through the thread I gave the link to... It's real easy to screw up lets say in regard to the Main battery change out. Easy to break the pos side clamp retainer clip, easy to short out the High Amp Fuse array, easy to forget to reset the IBS sensor and more...

That thread explains why I got a call from Battery plus to let me know they wont install the battery, even though they did on my RAM. They said on some vehicle they wont touch it with a 10 foot pole and 4Xe is one of them

Maybe I'm crazy but who/why would you need a battery like these types in a jeep and at these prices????? To me this is just nuts. I have an 18 rubicon with factory battery that works just fine, am I on borrowed time probably, but 300-400 bucks for a battery holy hell

I don’t own or know much about the 4xe, but I think there is a power down/HV disconnect procedure that has to be followed. I might be wrong, but at least look into It before frying something.

You are right, the IDCM fuse have to be pulled before disconnecting the battery. But I will look into the details before yanking cables for sure.

Fwiw, I’ve had my Moab for 5 years and still have both orig batteries. Currently no issues at all n

I made the investment and replaced it right away. If I'm right, it saved me future headaches. If I'm wrong, it was $100 insurance policy. Then again, I had a useless home warranty for 10 years so what do I know? I do know, I haven't had any issues.
