@Sean L thanks for the link and I read thru all 19 pages and I got some ideas that I may try, I am not against those that use it and glad it works for a lot of you but for me it’s just not and it has nothing to do with wanting to accept new technology,I started on computers back before maybe some of you were born useing a 386 SX 16 with 2mb of memory and an 80mb HD and everything had to be done from a DOS prompt and I wrote batch programming to execute programs and now I have a Synology NAS that I setup and run wireless on pretty much everything but then I also know how to break my back on the back end of a shovel so with all that said I am going to try several options and try and make it work but if it comes down to it I may pull the sensor from under the hood or buy a module once available from the start stop guy or just push the button everytime I get in if I remember but it should be a choice we make not the manufacturer telling us we have to accept it, I fully understand the need to be more green and can apprecite it as we only have one planet but if government were more serious about it the combustion engine would be long gone and we would be driving electric golf carts

Overall I am really enjoying my new Wrangler JL even with the quirks of ESS and a second battery that is pretty impossible to get to unless you take a lot of stuff apart but then again technology has to move forward so time will tell how all of this works out, my biggest concern was if bypassing the ESS if it would cause any issues on battery charging but guessing it won’t and if I decide to bypass it I will be afforded the benefit of the extra battery and beefier starter
Yeah keeping an open mind is good, but if in the end you decide to disable, it won't hurt your Jeep.

If you shift into neutral before you come to a complete stop, the ESS will not shut off the engine.

I've started doing that when I pull in my driveway so I dont get a shutdown with immediate restart when I shift to park. Helps take care of that annoying quirk.

There is a certain speed you have to hit in order for the ESS to activate again. I'm not sure how fast it is but if you just let the engine idle you forward it won't shut down after you stop again.
OK well that makes sense. The way somebody worded it I thought theirs shut down while moving through a drive through. I would like it to shut down as the drive through is not always the quickest and you can sit there at idle for extended periods of time.

I have read people talk about parking and having the issue with the ESS cutoff before they put it in park. I never experience this and I just realized why. I back in reverse when I am parking most all of the time. :)

I am sorry if this was already covered.. I noticed that when I put the shifter into manual mode that the ESS doesn't turn on/off (depends on how you look at it I guess). Only started playing around with it today but not a single time did it kick in. Now it means doing manual shifts but something to consider.

If you get above 5 mph, and then stop again it should turn the engine off (assuming there isn't another factor that will keep it on).

Yea in a drive through I don't get over 5MPH moving up one car spot. I can understand though. If you were in a stop and go situation restarting the engine that many times may bring the battery too low.

Well here’s a new one maybe, let the ESS do its thing on the way home and about half way home I turned it off like in pushed the button until the light was on and when I came to a stop it shut off like it was engaged so made a few more stops with the light on and it still shut down but when I stopped to visit a shop for some lighting I may have done and came out restarted and pushed the button it worked like it’s supposed to and never shut down.....

The F-150s we have at work will ESS when you creep forward. It does get annoying that way though, as my boss is the type that will creep forward if the car in front moves an inch. At a stop light all we hear is that engine cranking... lol
