I’d never heard of this before, but I did see it installed on a Dakota when we were car-shopping a few months ago. It seems to function like a sacrificial anode, supplying electrons to the vehicle’s metal surfaces so they can retain their own electrons and resist corrosion.

Seems like more manufacturers are adding them from the factory these days, especially on vehicles prone to rust. I hadn’t realized it was something dealers were including on new Jeeps.
