I apologize if this is old news. I searched and didn't get any hits.

Jeep included 1 years of EVTS when I purchases my JLU back in 2019 and when it was time to renew the service, I opted for the lifetime subscription (~$700 as I recall). Each year I've had to contact them to verify my account and keep it active. No big deal.

This year when I called them, I was told my service could not be restored because my JL has 3G hardware installed and AT&T has turned off 3G service. So in order to restore my coverage, I need to spend another $450 plus installation for 5G hardware. I'm not thrilled about spending more money to enable a lifetime service I've already paid for. I'm also not at all happy that the tracking on my Jeep was shut off several months ago and they never notified me.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there aftermarket hardware that can be purchased for less than $450 that would work?

Thanks.

Buy an Apple airtag for $29; tell Jeep to refund your money.

It was well known back in 2019 that the 3G network was on borrowed time. Borderline unethical for them to take money for a lifetime subscription knowing they installed obsolete hardware.
