I recently purchased an ECRI module which allows a Jeep owner to bypass the factory SWG. The ECRI manufacture recommends you install it in place of the SWG to allow the use of Bi-directional scan tools, JScans and other tools that let the owner work with their Jeep.
Once your done they recommend placing the SWG back in place. I really don't believe leaving the ERCI installed and eliminating the SWG would cause any problems other then leaving the vehicle vernerable to a possible hack through the connect system. After all, those with Tazers in effect have the same situation.
I believe this reinstallation of the SWG is really unnecessary and recommended just to protect themselves incase someone hacks the ERCI equipped vehicle.
I seem to always be tweaking my Jeep with my Jscan and hate having to unplug, replug, bla, bla, bla, you get the picture. Its would be so nice just to plug into the obd2 port and do whats needed instead of having to do extra steps. Maybe someone else has already done this?
