Just discovered this aftermarket oil filter for JL ecodiesel. Any thoughts? I have not used any ecogard product before, not sure if they are reliable or not.

You spend 4g+ on a diesel and want to skimp on the filter? Just buy the OEM. If $50 is going to break the bank, might as well sell it.

I put one on last weekend. didn't look like anything special but it also didn't look like straight garbage. 500 miles with no leaks or any other issues, I have no idea how well it's actually filtering though. It was the only thing I could get my hands on that had less than a week wait. All the local dealers were OOS or wanted 130 some odd dollars.

No comparison, the Mopar filter has a more robust bypass valve and construction overall

As per the owner's manual, any oil filter used must meet or exceed SAE/USCAR-36 filter performance requirements. I was not able to find any information to verify that the Ecogard S11880 filter meets SAE/USCAR-36 filter performance requirements. I have asked Ecogard to advise if the Ecogard S11880 meets this requirement, but no response as of this time. If the Ecogard S11880 engine oil filter does not meet or exceed SAE/USCAR-36 filter performance requirements, I will not use it.

There is currently no availability on Amazon for the OEM filter - with the ominous "not sure when it will be back in stock".
