Does anyone here have any dyno tuning done? Like using HPTuners and doing a full ECU re-write?

Im trying to find info but really cant, i know Jeep isn’t really the performance market but having a 2000 Pontiac Trans Am and 2018 STi have me always curious about engine mods

does anyone make a down pipe?
electronic boost controller?
EGR block offs?
Hi-flow cats?
Bigger injectors?

I have a 26 rubicon X on order and trying to plan ahead
thank you

the OTS tunes are only for the 2023 2.0 and older. the 2024 got a new turbo design and so far nobody has openly released a tune for it. HP tuners has a full tuning suite that we've used for the 3.6l, but so far nothing for the 2.0.

I'd focus on heat management first. Scroll through the EVIC and watch your temp gauge sometime. Mine has hit 225 in the past. I've heard (anecdotally) of others reach 240. This link will solve that.
I run so hot I've had the IC coolant boiling in the reservoir. Not a good situation, for sure.

Doesn’t the fan come on at 225?

Thanks for the info!

Can you elaborate on details about the new turbo in 2024?

The intercooler is water to air?

I just looked into it more. Idk how I feel about it being in the intake manifold and liquid cooled. I’m used to air to air intercooling…the IAT’s with the JL must be sky-high

I know you mentioned an existing vehicle order, but there's also the idea of waiting for the release of the GMET4 Evo engine in the Wrangler (likely a next-gen pivot.)

The new Hurricane 4 will provide 54 add'l. horsepower and 37 ft.-lbs. of add'l. torque when compared to the current GME 2.0T in the JL Jeeps. Those numbers apply to the new H4 when installed in the 2026+ Grand Cherokee, but they likely wouldn't be much different, if at all, when the engine is installed in a Wrangler.

I heard about it, that engine seems really promising!

I was ready to go and go the Willys 392 but that has stalled completely!

I needed a 4 door asap for the family and while my 22 JLR still has decent trade value i needed to get it done pretty quick.

I decided against the 3.6 as ive had 4 of them. On one of them the lifters blew at 13k miles and needed new camshafts too boot....on another the idler pulley was defective and kept going lol

i enjoy turbo engines so i figured this was my best option!

yes, it's an overstrung engine in a 3-ton platform. 4 bangers really shouldnt be in anything over 2 tons as it is

Wrapping the downpipe might help…I did that on my STi and it helped manifold temps a bit….

Granted I upgraded to a process west intercooler and THATS what really helped but still, it was smthng

I looked into tuning on the 2.0 when I had my 2020 2.0 before my 2025 3.6. I’ve tuned tons of Ford Ecoboosts and love a good turbo.

I have PCM reads for these and there is power to be made. The problem is heat management. No way to better manage intake charge temps because of the intercooler design being integrated with the intake. These already heat soak REALLY BAD because ignition timing at cruise is usually negative which creates heat, and even under boost timing is not very advanced. Lots of heat.

I found in the torque tables on these that torque limits start kicking in around 235-240 coolant temp. My 2020 saw 220-230 during the summer. Not lots of headway there for tuning.

Goes hand in hand with why the 2.0 on this platform stumbles and misfires like mad on cold start. It’s because of the extreme deliberate negative spark timing combined with some major VVT overlap. It’s all about generating heat for emissions

Limited to only direct injection with no port injection supplemental is a limiter also. Already pushing almost 300 ft lbs of torque. Plus under hood temp management is an issue on these too.

IMO, just not worth the fuss. Would love to see the 3.0 Inline 6 come to the Wrangler though.

My wife has an Explorer with the 2.3 EB. I would love to have that 2.3 in my JL in place of the 2.0. It moves that Ford with amazing ease. It does however use more fuel than the 2.0.

Are you able to tune for ecu to make the fan to come on sooner than it does on the 2.0T? I know there’s a 400 dollar fan controller out there. But I figure a quick flash is easier than splicing into the main wiring harness

The parameters are there, but these aren’t responding to the changes made to them for the fans. Haven’t figured out why. I turned a trouble ticket in two months ago for it and no fix yet.
