Personally I do not like LSD for snow and ice driving. LSD tries to push the rear end of the vehicle around rather than allowing the vehicle to track in a straight line. It’s particularly annoying on icy roads. I’ll take 4-high and open diffs any day of the week for those conditions.

My only beef is that I cannot use the rear locker in 2-high. On my Ram 1500 I could and it was useful in certain situations.
Personally I prefer LSD over open diff, yes it can push the back to go sideway in search of traction but tis happen when you step on it, in normal time lsd will kick in and you will not notice. I prefer to have my jeep to hunt for traction over BLD puting a break on and bugging down or one wheel spinning and going nowhere. Snow is all about momentum.

100% get the Tazer. Features galore, including trail turn assist which could be pretty sweet in the snow.

You can with the tazer, yea its $300 but being able to unlock the swaybar whenever and use features that Jeep locked behind 4lo is nice.
Really?? I have had a Tazer since my 2018 JL was new, and it's currently in my '25. I have never seen that option. Which menu is it under?

Its one of the remapping features. Just figured it out myself thanks to the help of @Terrymo and linking a youtube video lol. I really only use it for the swaybar disconnect on the steering wheel. Also Im 99% sure you can just hit the rear locker button at a complete stop in 2hi and itll lock the rear, but thats usually hit or miss for me and the remap is 100% so long as youre stopped.

OP, are you worried about driving in the snow? Because a Wrangler is fine in the snow. With whatever set up you have. We just got about 2 feet of snow and the only time I even put it in 4 hi is when I'm stuck inside my parking spot because I snowblowed (snowblew? I don't know) myself in.

Ok another question.. I used this video and remapped the + button to turn on the rear locker. I played with it in the driveway and it works great.

My concern is that any time I press + it turns on the locker regardless of which screen I'm in. I'm scared now to use the + button while on the highway. Lol. Like, if I go to set cruise control and hit the + button is it going to destroy my rear diff?? At this point it seems like it's almost TOO easy to activate the locker. Or is the Jeep smart enough that it knows when I'm driving down the highway not to activate the locker?

It ONLY works when stopped and if the cruise control is off. I was HELLA confused the other day when I tried to disconnect the sway bar after using the cruise control to get to the trail lol. Spooked me for a bit too but so far have had 0 issues.

My 2023 Rubicon has both LSD and the 4-auto transfer case mode. Surprised to hear that they seem to have switched to BLD for most newer ones.

Can confirm that the Wrangler is great in snow.

Since November I've had to park my 2024 Willys 4xe outside, and in order for my driveway to be plowed, I'd have to park up onto my front lawn. Going through two feet of snow on a slight hill was like driving on a regular road.

I've got a 23 JLU Willys XR. I purposely did not get a Rubicon. My Willys XR came with a LSD in the rear - a clutch type LSD. I don't know if my Jeep came with the BLD front and rear, front only, or not at all.

Anyways, I had installed TrueTracs front and rear. Did a Mopar FAD delete, and a Tazer took care of the FAD electronics and the dash. As far as the Jeep knows, it never had a FAD.

I'm a fan of TrueTracs. Had them front and rear in a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, and a 98 Jeep ZJ too. They're beasts.

IMHO, short of hard-core fourwheeling, TrueTracs front and rear are your best bet off-road, and especially in snow. No clutches to wear out, no wires, no vacuum lines, etc. Invisible on pavement. They're always "on" and ready to go, you don't have to think about them.

With the Rubicon, your axle choices are "open" or locked like a spool. All or nothing. With TrueTracs you've always got something assisting.

Mainly researching how it drives in mixed, slushy conditions on the highway. That is where I think the full time 4wd could come in handy. In actual snow conditions, I would just throw it in 4H and go.

They all come with BLD since the JK, it is part of the traction control software.
Also note 2023 was the last year LSD was offer in any Wrangler, in 2024 it was replace by locker therefore if you have the buy a 2026 Willys, it will come with a locker not a lsd. Personally I think it is sad as you need a tazer to be able to use it outside of 4L and is a manual activation, on the other end the thing outperform a LSD in most condition.

My 2023 JT will let you use the rear locker in 4H, not just 4L. It is in the owner's manual. You need ignition in Run, OffRoad+ active, ESC "full off", wheels not actively slipping, then press the rear locker switch. I have not looked at a JL owners manual of any year to see if it is the same. It does not allow it in 2H, though. The Tazer lets you do it with just locker switch in 4H or 2H. I have no real need for it in 2H other than to do donuts in the mud/snow, but is convenient to have one-button operation when I want to use it in 4H.
