A bit humid outside today so I turned on my defroster and turned the heat up and found that the defroster is only working on the passenger side. Felt the food well vents and the passenger side is blowing hot air while the drivers air is ice cold. Both climate zones are synced wtf. My Jeep is a ā€˜22 JLU with 8k miles on it. A bit early for equipment failures. Any ideas @JeepCares

Update to my climate control gremlins. I took some temp measurements with a IR thermometer on 9/1 after leaving the jeep running with the defroster on for about 10 min (I know not terribly scientific or definitive but it illustrates the issue). With the temps synced at 74 the drivers side was blowing 58.4 and the passenger side was 153. My jeep has been to the shop on 8/12, 9/2, and now today for this same issue. On 9/2 the tech working on it confirmed that the issue exists as I described and all actuators/climate control parts appear to be in working order. The tech looked and there does not seem to be a solution in any of the manuals or on tech2tech. Tech2tech had one other documented case of this happening with no posted solution. He opened a star case but now a new tech servicing it today says he can’t replicate the issue. Nothing like going into the PA fall/winter season with heat INOP.

Any updates on this? I’m experiencing the same. Very annoying - it’d be most helpful if I knew which blend door actuator to check, or if it was one at all. Maybe a loose hose, but one would hope your tech would’ve caught something as basic as that…

Obviously I can give people money to fix problems, but finding ways to get around the costly dealership by leaning on my own competence is exactly why I bother checking these forums.

I think I speak for most when I say this, but I am above paying someone else for doing such a job. Thanks.

Have you checked anything yet?

I have checked for movement on the driver's side blend door actuators while switching between upper body aircon and forward defrost. Because I know not which blend door actuator is linked to the driver's side defrost, I've presumed that it was one of the two on the driver's side. I saw no movement on either, which I assume means at least one of the following: one of those blend door actuators is not working, driver's side defrost is actually controlled by a blend door actuator on the passenger side, or the heater core is blocked. A fair number of threads would indicate heater core blockage to not be an uncommon issue.

Another reason I come to the forums; to start with the likely path of least resistance by seeing what worked for others first before I dive headfirst into potentially costly (money AND time) effort of diagnosing and fixing the actual issue. If someone said "yeah, replacing the lower of the two driver's side blend door actuators fixed the issue," then that would be my first course of action.

I live in Texas, so defrost is no deal-breaker. However, the morning humidity/dew gets me fogged up for a while into my drive.
