Yeah, I'm afraid that's true my friend-

We hear some pretty tall tales about supposedly WARRANTY COVERAGE-

Looks like we gotta treat it as a COULD BE COVERAGE !

JIMBO
We've already seen FCA deny coverage on a Rubicon that had the ball joints fall out of the knuckle, and another one that got hydrolocked with the stock intake on it, so my guess is FCA would laugh at warranty coverage on chain dragging timber out of the woods. :) FCA is such a terrible company. But we love these Jeeps anyway.

I drag logs all the time. But I use a small New Holland tractor, not my $40,000 Jeep.

WARRANTY COVERAGE for a jeep CLEARING 10 ACRE'S OF TIMBER--

I hope this one gets reported to this forum--I want to see the jeep survide this !

Can't wait

JIMBO
I've seriously pulled logs like that in that pic with my Polaris ATV 500. I can't believe you think a jeep with low side cant pull them,

What the hell does it have to do with believing a jeep can/can't pull logs ???

I'm talking 10 frickin acres and FCA WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR PROBABLE BREAKAGE-

Pay attention, I may ask questions later !

Pulling felled logs around should be no issue. I wouldn't be yanking stumps out of the ground though.

Hopefully you've never driven your Jeep on a OHV Trail or off road park. If so, maybe Jeep should deny your warranty as well?

Here is a question for you, WTF does 10 acres have to do with warranty. So your going to tell them I was pulling trees and broke it. You're not the only one on here that's been driving a long time.

I think you missed my point there bud. If you're claiming his use-case should void his warranty, I'd love to hear how and why it is harder on the vehicle than beating it up offroad, recovering stuck vehicles, etc.

I've used my 2015 JKUR to put preload with a block on some seriously huge trees that I wanted to fall in a given direction. I've used it to pull some logs but used my winch to do the pulling while jeep was parked and wheels blocked. So I would use my JLUR to do the same without concern, however there is no way I would try to clear an acre of timber and certainly not 10 with it. If it were me I would get all my ducks in a row and rent a small C-4 dozer or skid steer for a month. You will be able to do all the pulling, use it to clear thick underbrush, and make a road for easy access. They are really pretty reasonable and you will get the job done without destroying your Jeep.

You may also want to consider buying a used skid steer, dozer, or even back hoe, do your work then clean it up and sell it. Used equipment in these smaller sizes are readily available and easy to buy and sell.

Don't know what your using the land for but to actually own a 35 + HP Kabota or Mahindra, John Deer...tractor is something I would own anyway for 10 acres. That is if that land is going to be for your use and enjoyment. New tractor packages include nearly everything you would need to get the work done. Front end bucket/loader, box blade, brush hog and post hole digger are in the usual package and is actually quite "fun" to operate. I worked 27 acres with an older Kabota package just like I described. Just my thoughts anyway.

I'm guessing he's not clear-cutting 10 acres. If he was I'd question his sanity.
These should weight about 300lbs. If you can accomplish this task with a mid/large ATV I would seriously question the integrity of a truck that couldn't.

I don't think anybody in this thread said the JL couldn't pull them.

And as the owner of a Polaris Ranger 570 currently, and lots of ATVs previously, I can tell you for sure than 12" diameter logs cut 10' long hooked to a logging chain would be a tough task and very hard on the chassis. There's a huge difference between towing 1,000 lbs. on wheels and dragging the same dead weight through the woods over roots and stumps and through ditches.

Yes, and the fact that he's talking about clearing ACREAGE with the JL. He's not talking about building a camp fire. He's talking about doing the job of agricultural equipment with a Jeep.

And no, you can't compare the JL to the CJs of the 1950s and 60s. Apples and oranges.

A log of those proportions would weigh 300lbs, 500 at the absolute max.
I'd need to know the kind of would for the variation.
