I may have to leave mine out. R/Ring the bolts are the most painful part of the doors lol. So 100% no noise from not having the bolts or guides and no ill effects?

No, you don’t “have” to put the door bolts back on, and it’ll be perfectly fine. I still put the bolts back on, though, more or less out of habit. An electric ratchet makes it a two-second nothing-thing anyway, so no biggie.

I will say that if you use tube doors, it is one more PITA thing for a would-be thief to have to deal with. ?‍♂

How do you get an electric anything in such a small space? What ratchet are you using?

Just a standard B&D driver actually. Hold a piece of scrap cardboard between the door and the power driver just to make sure no scratches. ?

When I put mine back on, I used anti seize on the threads on the pin itself. When spring-fall comes and the doors come off, then go back on for a few days, then off again, I don't put the retaining nuts on. They are only there as a theft deterrence. Full doors used to get stolen left and right on CJ7s, YJs and TJs. Not so much on JKs and JLs since so many come with full doors now. If I had factory half doors, I would absolutely put those nuts on.

Bolts have been sitting in my rear cargo tray since 2019. I use Amsoil metal protector and coat the pins and hinges before the doors go on for the season. About halfway through winter I will spray some of it from the bottom of the hinge up into it so it gets another coating. Doors come off like they were new.
