They just arrived and have a bit of an issue. The guy cut them in the same direction on the machine. So that means when you flip one around it's the "bad side" that shows all the imperfections. Like one side is clearly the front but you have to flip it around to install on driver side.

Mm. That sounds like a rookie mistake.

Up to you, but I might consider mentioning the matter to him, and maybe asking for a goodwill credit of $X, depending on the panels' original price.

Or, just paint them, install them and Jeep on. 👍

I just mentioned it but he doesn't really understand what I am saying and is just saying this is the best his cutter can do. So yeah I think I'm just stuck with it. I was thinking of maybe not painting them but now I 100% have to. It's very clear in person that the driver side has the "bad side" facing out.

Edit: Here is a pic of it taped up. I was thinking of maybe not painting them but now I have to get them painted to hide the imperfections from cutting it backwards.

Well, at least this is on record now.

Best of luck that the painting improves the aesthetic a bit.

Yeah I dunno. Unfortunately, the bad side would show on the driver side which I see all the time. If it was on the passenger side I wouldn't mind so much. It kind of makes me not want to install these at all.

I believe you're entitled to submit a legitimate return & refund request here, doubly so since the seller acknowledged your feedback. My OCD would certainly push me in that direction.

Otherwise, sell them in the Member Marketplace. There's a buyer for everything. 👍

I guess I'll see what happens. I just know I don't want to look at something wrong every day. People should be proud of their work and take the time to do things right and it seems like that has just gone out the window and everything is "good enough."

Well seems like the guy is willing to work with me and make a new panel and I pay for shipping. We are going to talk over the phone in an hour because he still doesn't quite understand what I am saying about flipping the image 180 before cutting. 🤷‍♀️

I agree with you 100% on the lack of craftsmanship these days however, I do believe once they are painted, powder coated, or (Herculiner which will really hide flaws) it would be much less noticeable.

Yes his point was he usually Herculiner paints them BUT he knew my plan was to use black matte paint. I don't think matte will hide it. I may also do clear coat and keep them silver.

I had a door pocket thread going, I was hoping to hear back from the gentlemen that purchased these. 👇

Ha isn't this your thread I've taken over? Those look nice. I just don't know what I would put in there. I've only ever used my door pockets as a temp place to throw a National Park map when it was handed to me.

I thought these custom ones were nice because I could do whatever design I wanted and the molle panel could be useful someday for something maybe.

Well I think I got it worked out. I talked to the guy over the phone which helped a lot in the communication. Talking via a messenger is never great. He's going to cut a new driver side panel and I will pay for shipping.

So looks like this project is on hold again until I get the second panel.

I don't use my pockets anyway and if anything I'd put something on the molle panel part. Or maybe could put a park map in there.

It may just be the perfectionist in me but I would have flipped the image for one side so that the side you see is the side that the machine is cutting from.

Those look like the.points where the plasma torch pierced the metal. The initial piercing creates a hole slightly larger than the cut line made when the torch is traveling. An experienced person would start the cut slightly inside the hole and then trace the hole. But this means setting up each cut individually, instead of letting the program always cut left on start.
As in start at the red dot and then follow the white line...

Those are a cool design.
