Hey @Flip, I finally had time and cooperating weather to hit the parking lot and install these this weekend. I decided to just cut the nets out -- nothing was "hard" about this job but it took me about an hour to do everything. In particular I lost my good scissors though so was having a bit of issue cutting by the end. Sorry the door's dirty for the pic  Maybe the rear would've pictured better as it's quite a bit less used.

Note I chose to do the optional final step of screwing them as I don't care about harming the door. I haven't tried using them since it used velcro/3M to make an expandable pocket and wanted to make sure that set correctly. So all I can say is as of now they're super flush with the door.

Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback. They look good and flush. Nice job 👍

I read through this whole thread, hoping that you would put a link in to where you got those. I didn’t see it. Could you help me out and tell me or send a link or give me some kind of clue as to where you got them. I want him to make me some for my Captain America theme Jeep. Thanks

Does anyone know which of the metal ones hold a can of soda or a mug? Some are way too shallow to hold more than a pack of cigarrettes.

A regular can is 2" 3/4 or 7 cm.

Thanks

The fabric ones from Overland Outfitters can hold a can in the pouch part. I don't know how securely, (if the can or mug's top is open) though. You can still feel it against your leg since it's tight there, but it'll fit. I have a thread or two here somewhere showing a bottle and umbrellas in it.
It's the set I have, so the only experience I can share

I agree--it doesn't seem like a big ask, but is seemingly impossible. :-/ I tried a couple plastic ones before I settled on the cloth.
I have seen extra cup holders which mount higher -- I think some go towards the hinge-side of the doors at the bottom of the window, or in front of the vents (I've driven at least two vehicles with cup holders in front of vents. Convenient location, inconvenient temperatures!) maybe they would work?

If you find a good metal one, post here because I'm sure a lot of people are looking

I have the same ones and they seem to be just fine.

Loving the look of the unofficial ones! Maybe will pull the trigger on those.
