Door Hinge Steps

Inquiring minds need to know ... Dimensionally are JK and JL Door hinges bolt holes the same distance apart?, and vertically are the 2 hinges the same distance apart on the frame ?

I am wondering if the wide variety of door hinge steps available for the JK will fit the JL for accessing the roof.

eg: Kargo Master Congo Pro Hinge steps.



(Not that the aftermarket racks are here yet.. but it would be nice to know if existing steps will work to get us up to our roof)

nope seems nobody is too excited here for door hinge steps to help access the roof.

I'm scouring the roof rack vendors for any signs of a JL offering.

Maybe we could get a JK and JL owner to measure the distance between the hinges to see if the same steps work on both the JK and JL.

OK, I have measured my JL and my brother-inlaws JK and both bolt patterns for attaching the door hinges are the same.
From center of bolts it is 2 3/16" across and top hinge to bottom is 12 5/16", again from center of bolts to center.
Now, what I cannot determine is if the replacement bolts that ship with these hinge steps will work on the JL. I do not know if the thread pattern and size are the same from JK to JL.

I called Ivan at smittybilt today and confirmed that the Smittybilt Atlas door steps should fit the JL hinges. Customer service was awesome. Ivan recommended ordering from 4WDparts.com in case there was any problem and offered to help out if there should be any need to return.

unfortunately I am in Canada and just can't handle the double slam of both US dollar conversion and border tariff on auto accessories. I placed my order minutes ago with justjeeps.com since they have Canadian location and no hefty C.OD.

I measured a 2018 JK and JL door hinges. They are identical indeed. And two bolts per hinge. The only issue might be the length of the bolts. Has anyone tried it yet to see if the bolt length works?
