Hello, I am going to be taking the roof and doors off my Sahara tomorrow for the first time. I had a question regarding putting the doors and roof (hard top) back on. Is there specific torque values that the bolts for the doors and hardtop need to be at? Will a torque wrench be needed when putting the door and hardtop back on?

Not sure about the torque for the roof. But as for the bolts in the door hinges, many people, including myself leave them off.

I just set the doors back on, secure the bolts for the Door Checks, connect wiring and I’m good to go.

Concerning the Door Checks, a little advice, don’t push them back in the door to get them out of the way. If you do, you will wish you didn’t when it comes time for putting the doors back on.

Enjoy!!!!

You don't necessarily need a torque wrench for the door bolts. You'll get a feel for what's tight enough... just don't overtighten. Personally, I don't use them... I use hinge pins.

page 100 of the owner's manual

The Torx fasteners that attach the hard top to the body
should be torqued to 88 in lb +/- 22 in lb (10 NĀ·m +/-
2.5 NĀ·m) using the provided #50 Torx head driver and
ratchet.

Thanks! Which hinge pins do you use on the doors and are they secure?

The ratchet given by Jeep in the toolkit isnt a torque wrench, correct? How would I know I have reached 88 in lb for the hardtop bolts?

Thanks for the info. I did some research and i think solution to this is to open doors all the way and then remove the door checks bolt so that thr check is fully outside the door. Does this sound correct?

Yes. Then be careful handling the doors that you don't bump them in.

Yes. But be careful not to bump them in any way so that they retract into the doors. They’re really a PITA to get out if you do.
You don’t need any sort of torque wrench for the hard top bolts. Just make them snug. That’s all. After the bolt is snug, stop. That’s tight enough. I’ve got these:

They work great. No tool required, they spread the clamping force over a much larger area which protects from over tightening, they provide attachment points for cargo nets clips, and they look cool.

I’m having quite a lot of fun imagining someone trying to tighten their roof bolts to 88 ft/lbs :CWL:

I'm sure you can do it but the head might go thru the fiberglass.

That little thing is more of a toy socket. I don't use, and neither do others. If you plan on doing your own work, consider investing in a quality torque wrench... the clickety-click tells you all you need.

I'm partial to Tekton products, but there are many to choose from.
