Does the 392 Wrangler use a BMS (battery monitering system) that needs to be reset after installing a new battery? I was all set to drop in a new X2 battery when I thought I remembered that it might have one.

When I recently replaced the battery my screen locked up- Security Code Required- Jeep couldn’t access it, vin # couldn’t get it at parts, $110 to pull the screen to get the serial # off the back to get it. Keep it energized to be on the safe side. Many report no problem, some like me evidently do.

The Batteries plus store offered to put something on the terminals to keep the system energized, so thank you for the warning

You can also clip/clamp on a battery starter to the terminals when you take them off.

I wound up taking it to the local shop to let them install the battery. It was way too heavy for this 72 yr old to lift the old one out and put the new one in. The shop was going to use a jump box to keep the system energized but after talking it over we decided to just unhook one and replace with the new.
The shop did the new battery registration with the ECU after and I didnt have any weird electronic issues pop up right away and all my preset stations were still on the radio. But on the second start I had either AC blowing like crazy or high heat and as much as I tried to adjust them, they wouldn't set to a temperature and the screen was different than the usual one with a different layout. Called the shop and they said bring it over and they would hook up the computer to it again, but when I got in and started the Jeep for the 3rd time (the charm?), everything was back to working as normal. I guess it just took some time for the electronics to reboot.
