I'm considering a 2 door hard top this time and thinking of a decorative vinyl wrap just for the hind end. Has anyone here done this?

Please explain to me like I'm 5 how wraps work since I've not visited my local wrap shop yet.

Having settled and getting a white Jeep, I had to do something with it. It was a giant empty canvas waiting to be painted. So I contacted a local vehicle wrap company about a month after buying the Jeep to get a partial wrap on each side.

I provided them with several pictures I found online of what I was looking for and someone from their art department created a few mockups. I went back and forth with them several times over about a month, each time they sent back an updated mockup. Towards the end, I sent them pictures of both sides of my Jeep and they overlaid the mockup right on top of the photos. Then I edited the photos and sent it back and they incorporated the changes.

This is that mockup photo:

Once I signed off on the design and paid for it all (~$1300 USD), they printed the wrap and I brought my Jeep in. Cost included design, printing, and installation. About 24 hours after dropping it off, I had a very patriotic Jeep that stood out wherever it went. I only had one issue with a bubble that formed a couple months later once the weather warmed up and I was able to bring it back and they took care of it.

Below photo was taken this past summer at the Drummond Island Jeep Jamboree. The wrap has held up well over the past 1.5 years, even after getting coated in mud. Just avoid using a pressure washer on it. I avoid automatic car washes altogether.

That is gorgeous!!!

So I went over to see my local wrap guy and I think I'm going to wrap my new 2 door black hard top Mojito's butt with this, with the background color matched to the Mojito, of course.

(And y'all can probably guess that I've already bought yarn for a crocheted tire cover with daisies.)

A wrap is basically a giant, super-sticky sticker that they heat and stretch over the panels of your car. The how it works"" part is mostly in the prep, they have to clean the surface perfectly so dust or dirt doesn't get trapped underneath, which causes bubbles later.

For a partial wrap on the back of a Jeep, it’s mostly about aligning the design and managing the tight corners. If you’re near Orlando or Tampa, the guys at Tinterz do really clean work on that kind of custom piece.
