After 100 miles on my new JLRU something smelled really hot. (This was in February) My sister got out of the passenger side this was on the ground still hot and melting even after it hit the ground under the passenger side front door.. I immediately called the dealership and they said it may be something that was missed while they were getting the Jeep ready for delivery. On the way home from the beach dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Towed it to another dealership and they are saying I have an electrical issue. Does anyone have any idea what this is that melted off. Thanks in advance for any ideas and help.

Doesn't look like anything electrical nor anything that would cause an electrical issue. Could be something that got kicked up from the road, onto or near the exhaust.

I’ve read that there have been a few wranglers that have a wiring harness close to the exhaust on the passenger side in the engine bay that sometimes works it’s way loose and rubs or gets close to the exhaust and starts to melt exposing wires and shorting them out. Could be the cause of your dash light Christmas tree effect. As far as the plastic bushing your holding it looks as though it is an insulator for something that penetrates the firewall, maybe for the heating core piping or electrical cable.
