Thanks Alex. My Jeep is perfectly fine. Just need to balance all 4 tires. It rides fine after rotating the tires.

Meeting setup tomorrow morning at 8am @ Los Angeles Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (zipcode: 90007). Fairly certain they are going to charge me for an alignment which won't fix what I felt. It's not an alignment issue but we will see.

I dont think you had death wobble. If you did you would have had to come to near a complete stop or full stopped for it to subside. Considering you said your wobble would go away at 20mph. You are one of the lucky ones. It's like a box of cards with these wranglers. Some have them and some dont.

Yup. I'm sure it's not death wobble. Just wanted to help my fellow jeepers know when it's real death wobble and when it's something as simple as tire balancing.
Thx

They should check your alignment and fix any issues under warranty. Mine needed an adjustment after two weeks.

Its definitely still under warranty. However alignments do not fall under that coverage. Did the alignment help in your case?

Good luck with your service appointment- please let us know how it turns out. My vehicle is with them right now for a transmission gasket repair and I have my fingers crossed that they will do an ok job. My service writer is Jose- he seemed to be pretty professional and has been responsive

My Jeep has steering issues (well-documented in *the* steering thread). The toe was way off, so they adjusted it. The steering issues are on-going.

I would think that a Jeep being delivered out if speck would be fixed. I’m glad my dealer did.

Ok. So they kept my Sahara for 8hrs and then called me at 4:30pm (dropped off at 8am) to tell me there is nothing wrong with it. Which did not surprise me. They did not charge for anything. They did say that I already had the recall steering damper and all joints are perfect. They also mentioned that the steering damper had too much air in???? Wtf. Correct me if I am wrong. But these are hydraulic dampers...meaning oil is in them not air. Either way. Nothing way...done except. Have to say. I love the wrangler but this wobble business has me now the fence for my next SUV. The question is. Do you accept it and live with it...or move on.

Jeep Wrangler JL Death Wobble Started 6F8B27A6-9FC4-448F-8607-3CB804C37190
Had my first experience of DW tonight taking my wife to dinner. Hit a bump on the road at about 40mph or so, and it set it in motion, violently shaking. Temps are in the high 40s here in south LA. My Jeep is a 2018 that I ordered in July of 18, it has right at 18,500 miles now. It was recently in service for jeep wave oil change and tire rotation. Service adviser also told me they did the V41 recall. That was about 200 miles ago.

Got home a bit ago and checked the new dampener and sure enough, installed backward. Not sure if I should just fix it myself or take it back. Not really keen on putting it on the road again till it’s fixed (dealer is about 30 minutes away) also thinking about rotating tires again just in case one is out of balance.

For what it’s worth, I’ve never had the issue before this and tires are on their 3rd rotation. I put lift and tires on @ 87 miles on jeep, so unless the original dampener was masking some other issues, it’s got to be the recent work done that has caused this.

What say you?

That's funny. Your photo...mine looked just like yours, with the sticker literally in the exact same spot. Fairly certain they flipped it, this past Friday, because the sticker is now on the other side. More towards the center of vehicle. However, I am not sure if this actually will change anything. Time will tell. At this point I have accepted DW as a by product of the Wrangler. Just something we have to come to live with. There are hundreds of videos on youtube where people install aftermarket parts that "seem" to solve the problem but I am not going to put money into lease. Possibly on my next Wrangler when I trade this one in.

I would rotate tires back to the way they were before last rotation, take it for a test drive and of that fixes the issue, have all tires balanced, rotated and reinstall dampener.
