Brought my JL in for scheduled tire rotation, they got it done super quick..... When I got home, I realized that they didn't ask me for the lug lock key, which I have in a plastic bag in my tool bag in the back of my Jeep, so either they knew where to look ( unlikely) or they lied and said that they did the tire rotation

First Jeep Wave oil change I asked for tire rotation, dealer said “sure”. Go to drive home and check the tires. The brake dust on the wheels hasn’t been smudged on all 5 wheels. No one even touched the wheels.

Yep I can't trust these people glad I do my own oil changes they probably would have lied about that also Now I know 100% for certain that I will not have the dealership do the Mopar 2-in lift I'll take it to a 4x4 shop instead

Is it a factory lock lug? If so, the dealer has a master set that they use. Don't need yours.

Master set... If OEM, there's only something like 5. Saves the techs a lot of time vs. digging around or calling.
Yes mine are Mopar that explains why they didn't come and get me in the waiting room to show them where the key was I feel a little better now ?

Suggest next time just before you bring in for a rotation, that you mark each tire with a tire marker pen or Sharpie. On each tire label location like Spare, RR, LR, RR, RF, LF.

The Tech will see those markings and hopefully watch his P's and Q's.

This way when you pick up the vehicle you can quickly look and see if they did the deed and if they did it correctly.

Also, I would have Service Writer do a walk around when I dropped off the vehicle and have the Service Writer note on the paperwork that all rims are without damage... or if any damage. This way if they damage a rim(s) you have recourse.

Best bet is to do your own oil changes and tire rotations. 8-)

What really impressed me (not) is they wanted to charge me for the fifth wheel. They told me the Jeep 'Wave' only covered four. Huh???

How many Jeeps built since, forever, had just four wheels? Sure there are some knuckleheads that do spare deletes (can't fix stupid, especially on-trail), but only rotating four, that's bait-and-switch, bordering on fraud.

Went to Sam's Club, they rotated and computer balanced all five in about an hour. Best part, no charge (yes free). Stated it's a 'membership service' when you purchase tires through them. I did, but only on my wife's car, not the 35's I have on my JL.

They should re-brand the 'Wave' program to what it better represents; 'buy-bye'.

Another reason to avoid the dealership 'shysters' altogether. At no time will they ever perform honest work. They won't (can't) ever do the right thing... It's in their DNA.

Dealership Never Again...

You're better off putting your lug key somewhere where they won't find it. They have their own. I used to leave mine in the center cupholder for them. Then when I actually needed to use it (side of the highway with a flat), it was nowhere to be found. Had to get towed to the closest dealer to get the wheel off. Long day.

My local dealer won't even rotate them right. They just move the backs to the front and fronts to the back without criss crossing them. I got tired of arguing with them (I even showed them the owner's manual instructions). The service manager said that's how they always do it and it doesn't matter. I stopped using them for any service after that.
