Picking up a front/ rear dash cam and wanted to see some ideas of how folks mounted the rear camera specifically when running a soft top? I was thinking in the middle of the back roll bar but wasn't sure about how to run the cabling from the front windshield to the rear. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks!

Need solutions for this too! Hate to get a dash cam with rear view and only get full use of it when with hard top.

I just ran a rear cam wire on top of my sound bar. Wanted to throw you a bit of caution and testing, before you do your final wiring: with my camera wire in either top or bottom of the soundbar, it completely interferes with the XM antenna. You might want to test that before you run your wire. Just "mock" it up or hold it to where it will sit and check for interference. Besides that little snafu, my spare nearly negates any use for a rear cam - lol

Thanks, that was what I was hoping to hear from folks if the spare tire pretty much blocks any view. I am now leaning towards just putting a front dash cam and not worry about it or pickup a front dash cam with the front/rear cam built in. At least it would catch the side windows and cabin. Something like the Anker Duo Dash cam.

I think the spare consideration def depends on the size of spare. You would get more video coverage with the stock or even 35. I am running a 37, with an adjustable spare bracket, so it's bigger and sits higher.

Just put in an Aukey dual dash cam. Wasn’t too terrible to install even running the rear wire through the roll bar area. Both the front and rear have 1080p and I think it gives enough view out the rear window. I basically centered it behind the interior light. The lens allows for enough positioning where you can get a good view.

Also I was able to tuck about 5-6’ of rear dash cam cable up in the rear bar in case I decide to move the cam if I run the hard top at a later date and want to glass mount it.

Couple front/back snaps when driving.

What did you use to attach it to the roll bar? This looks like a decent setup. Hows the camera working so far?

Just used 3M tape that was provided. Holds tight and hasn’t come loose.

I will say I had a lemon on my first Aukey purchase but returned and got a new one and it’s worked perfect. I do like the motion detection if you keep it powered it works quite well when parked.

Thanks for the reply!
how are you powering it? hardwired/with the ODB kit, or off a battery pack?

I’m using an OBD connector. Aukey sells one for the camera, but I’m actually using one from Anker that works well (few bucks cheaper) and hasn’t given me any issues. Also has the ability to shut off when the battery gets too low.

Anker Roav 6 ft USB Hardwire Kit, 24/7 Parking Mode, Low Voltage Protection, 12V-30V, Easy Installation Into Vehicle OBD, Compatible with Roav DashCam Duo

How's that 3m tape holding up two years later? I have the Blackvue 750x and have not had any luck getting my rear camera to stick to the plastic long term. The Florida sun I guess just obliterates it.

Still holding good. Maybe apply some isopropyl alcohol then apply? I’m sure the sun does effect it. Good luck.
