So it's obviously on all our minds as we hear about it in the media non stop. But who on here has actually been exposed or someone in household exposed?

My parents both had it. They were vaccinated and got the antibody treatment so they pulled through. They are both in their 80s so it was a little tense for a while.

I know several people who weren't so lucky. All of them were not vaccinated (several got hit before the vaccine was available).

Last year (2020) in the fall, I had started going to a friend's large manufacturing company and using the machine shop. I would have lunch with my friend and a couple of his guys in a back lunch room just for them. One day, I get a call from one of them and he's got it. I had sat right next to him at lunch. So, my wife and I isolate and make an appointment for a test in 5 days from the exposure. We test negative. The guy on the other side of me at lunch tested positive. I tested 2 more times (neg) over the following couple weeks, just in case (my wife cares for her 90 year old mother).

I’ve had it 2wice. Honestly I’m disappointed, I thought I was going to bleed a painful death and maybe pee out of my ears… nope, just the flu with no taste or smell.

I got it from the damn Jeep dealerships loaner Fiat. Nearly killed me too. I ended up with the Covid related pneumonia, and my O2 levels went well below 90. I now have scarred lung tissue and some asthma symptoms that I never had before. Got a cold in November 9 months after getting Covid and I still can't get the damn cough to go away. It killed my biological father, but trust me, the world is better off now.

I currently have COVID, tested positive yesterday. Likely the Omicron variant. Given I'm healthy, exercise regularly, take vitamin C daily, and am vaccinated I'm surprised I feel as bad as I do. It's not the worst I've ever been sick by any means, but given how "mild" omicron supposedly is I figured I'd be faring better.

Sorry to hear. I've had mild asthma my whole life. It never bothers me, except when I'm sick(ironically it isn't with COVID). My asthma makes my common colds very severe. Like the average person's flu. Just be a little careful when you feel under the weather going forward, with respiratory stuff things can go from fine to horrible pretty quickly. Especially at night.

Your poll question and thread question don't match, so I didn't participate in the poll.

Several around me have had it; two people have died (one had "underlying conditions", one healthy as anyone you've ever met), two people have lasting symptoms well over six months later (lung related issues that will last their lifetime), one person is still recuperating a month later and one person seems to have experienced nothing more than a couple weeks with the flu. The way it has impacted people seems arbitrary (two people with lifelong lung issues/scarring worked out every day and hike 10k+ peaks with relative ease...just another day out hiking), and one person that died was as healthy as anyone and didn't seem sick until she died several days later.

Same here. Had the original when it all began and Delta. I haven’t been vaccined, as I’m in the control group and therefore exempt.

I got it, about a year after it made its way over here. It went into pneumonia, which wasn't fun, but I got over it. Never been vaccinated, rarely wore a mask. Haven't had any issues since. I am constantly around people with it, sometimes people who have just died with it. The job tried to force a vaccination on me, but I refused and resisted, until they stopped trying.
Now, those who took the vaccines, like good little sheep, have contracted almost every variant of Fauci's experiment that has come around. Their immune systems suck, and me, I'm just thinking "I told you soooo"!!

Wow, just wow. Never had it and have had all four vaccinations. Just got the bivalent booster last week. I get a cold maybe once every other year. A young guy where I work did not get vaccinated and died from it. YMMV
