So it looks like this is a pivot point or tube between the seat bottom and seat back?

btw I can get mine to creak just by pushing around on the seat back up by the headrest. Dont even have to have a person in the seat. But I havent really located exactly where the noise is coming from. Its clearly on the door side on my passenger seat.

I've had the same problem for a few months now, brought to the dealer's attention and we will see what they come up with. I won't hold my breath. I want to apply the grease fix but I'm afraid it's just going to come back especially since it sounds like there is a revised part that fixes the root issue. I'm not thrilled with the dealer taking the seat out and potentially scratching the paint as one JL owner mentioned in this thread.
Hi Nvdardx28,

Please keep us updated on your dealerā€™s findings. If we can be of any assistance, please feel free to send us a PM. Weā€™d be happy to help.

I too have the creaking passenger seat issue. I tried doing the grease fix but it didnt help. While I had the seat out I was able to pinpoint the noise I am hearing to the seat track itself, the left side to be exact. Im probably just going to live with the noise until jeep comes out with a sure fix.

there's an "updated" bottom frame. greasing it won't help. just go get it warrantied out. just be prepared since its a very common issue whatever dealer you choose it may be 2-3 days or it may be NO ETA back order and could be a week or 5 weeks.

I had to make the repair myself. Pretty straight forward. Photos follow. Remove 4 bolts that anchor seat. Lean set forward, then push headrest to the right and out the door opening. Remove two screws holding plastic cover. Apply grease to outside of circular opening and BE SURE TO APPLY to the back side also. You can grab the seat bracket and put a foot on the bracket at the floor and move it a bit to replicate the creaking noise amd work the grease around. You can then see the movement causing the problem. I thought the grease soultion would not work but it did! Thanks forum!

im glad that worked, however you may hear it again sometime its actually down in the bottom two rails where it fails "tolerance" wise where itll rock just enough side to side within the rail when there's someone in the seat to make noise.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if the dealer will allow me to drop off the seat, I really dont want them taking it out. It will be a week or two before I can get to the dealer. I will be sure to post whether or not the dealer will allow me to just remove the seat myself.

very likely not going to allow that, that would more than likely "void" if you will. but worth asking just be ready for them to deny that. just take the doors off and use painting tape on along any area you think might be get hit. however it can be done with ZERO issues on damaging anything. below I kind of circled what and where I am trying to explain where the issue is starting to make noise.

Thats exactly where I was able to recreate the noise when I had the seat out. Luckily the seat doesnt make noise when no one is in it nor does it make noise when cruising on the highway with someone in it. My wife and I are on a run of bad luck with new vehicles lately. It seems every time we go to a dealer to have an issue fixed they either deny the issue or create other problems when fixing the original problems. I have already paid to fix 2 issues with this jeep. The first was alignment that the dealer claimed was ok and the the other was the the hard top liners that kept falling down. If the dealer wont allow me to remove the seat myself I will live with the problem or purchase the part and fix it myself. Thanks for your input on the seat problem. This forum is one of the most informative I have ever been on.

Itā€™s updated without the weird plastic inserts down there on the ā€œupdatedā€ frame. And trust me even taking your time during the first few... many cuts on hands and deff aggravating however itā€™s fixed 6 out of 6 Iā€™ve personally seen and all of them must have a passenger in seat no matter what weight in order for sound to be noticeable.

Update for our seat: made an appointment at Southfork Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Pearland, TX. The service department was aware of the problem. They replaced the frame, which they had in stock. It took about two hours and appears to have fixed the problem.

I joined this club this afternoon, unfortunately. Have about 400 miles on the Jeep, 99.9% of the time alone. Today going to the store with my wife, the creaking/crack/loud pop was extremely annoying. Have appointment at dealer on Monday at 1.

Iā€™m in the noisy seat club, Uconnect radio head needed replaced because of malfunctioning issue( called 911 over and over for 2 hours before I could get to a dealership), two mufflers with baffle Rattle issue and noisy drive train clunking noise when I slow down. oh and fender lights replaced because of water inside. Iā€™ve had no luck with the dealer Listening to me. my husband recently took it in for my service and tried to get the issues addressed and was there for about 6 hours and nothing got fixed but the service was completed. The next day was dropping my son off at school and a lady alerted me of a noise my Jeep was making so I checked it out and I had lug nut totally off in my cap and a couple others loose. Guess when they rotated my wheels they didnā€™t tighten down everything. Itā€™s extremely frustrating when you try to explain the issues and they keep blowing you off or dismissing your concerns. Sorry for the rant. :)
