Ugh!!! Mine just started doing this yesterday. And it goes away as well if I unbolt the striker from the body.

I checked everything out for a few hours. Greasing the hinges, removing the door and check things, unbolting the striker from the door itself and reseating it. Nothing works. I hate this. It is always something else.

I took the door panel off to see the door impact beam appears to have come detached from the door skin and the whole inner sub frame for the hinges and door striker are flexing. This is stupid poor design. Aluminum doors with everything glued together inside.

That doesnā€™t sound good. I was hoping for a quick fix.

Had, what sounds like, the exact same problem. Except it was multiple doors. They replaced the detent arms and didnā€™t fix it. My dealer got a star case created and they decided the only way to fixed it was to completely replace the doors. Dealer ordered new doors, painted to match, and replaced them. Not a fun or quick process.

This is what I am afraid of do you know what your star case number is so I can have them reference it

Not offhand, but Iā€™ll see what I can find out. It has been at the dealership for 8 days now....they are telling me it is taking too long because my Jeep has ā€œsun fadeā€ and they are struggling to match the paint.

It sounds like to me this would be the final straw to possibly lemon it out

Lydia,

This is something i dread taking to my local dealer. And its going become growing problem among the JL community. While on the outside its a really annoying creaking noise, on the inside of the door the side impact door beam has become detached from the door skin. Are there any star #ā€™s we can reference to them?

Get ready for a ton of fun. Apparently they needed to repaint half my Jeep to get the paint to match because of the ā€œsun fadeā€. Enough that they had to order new decals for the quarter panels. I dropped my Jeep off after the doors had come in and been painted, and they said two days. We are at a week and four days now. This doesnā€™t count the months from the initial visit.

Hi Rusty,
We certainly understand why this experience has been frustrating. Has a case been opened on the Customer Care side to add assistance while working with your dealer? If not, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to get this started for you!
