Ok... You say you like seeing a "thin slice of the car" .... but can the mirror be adjusted with the control switch to eliminate that thin slice..OK, here is a couple of shots sitting in the drivers seat in what would be a normal driving position. My phone camera is set to wider angle to show the dash, it makes the mirror housing a bit distorted, although it's not in real life.

Why.. because most people do not want that thin slice... They want all the wider angle they can get.
The reason I'm asking these pointed ? is to get answers for guys that might consider doing as you did..
