I am on the fence on ordering the black hood decal with red outline from Adventure decals. I like the look but would have to have someone install it. I didn't fare too well doing my own on the previous Jeep I had. What do you guys think? I could honestly take it or leave it. The only real benefit is keeping the sun glare down from the white exterior. Wouldn't do much for rock chip protection...

I'm thinking of installing one eventually for the sole purpose of reducing glare. I love billet silver, but some mornings it is like a mirror.

Black? In the AZ sun? That's gonna get hot and take a lot of temperature & UV wear.
Maybe keep some darker sunglasses on hand for when glare gets bad? The reflectivity of white is serving a purpose out there.

I've had black on my other Jeep. It's not like AZ's sun is different than any other part of the world! There was no degradation on my other one. I was concerned about the blue outline but it never faded in the 7 months I had it on. Regarding glare, I already wear sun glasses. The true question is mainly cosmetic. Should I or shouldn't I? I was using the glare as an excuse to say yes, I need one whereas leaving it without looks nice and clean. Tough decisions while there are some sales going on.

I voted that women will flock to your jeep - but is that a Prevost in your pic? no need for hood decals to get women to flock to that ride!

It's a Newell that I got for a smoking deal. It looked like 1993 (Year it was built) with pastels and greens for an interior. My wife (The only person who will flock to my Jeep as long as she's present, that is ;)) was supportive in my crazy idea to make this thing a second home on wheels. I built a pit for it to service it when I feel like it. I have a good friend who is a bus mechanic at "All Aboard America" who does alot of chassis work for me. I did all the work on the interior renovation short of upholstery work and the tile in the shower. In the last pics is the pit with my wife "Under the bus". Next to this Rubicon, the bus is my absolute favorite thing I own followed by our Classic Satinette pigeons.

Actually, when you're in UT at 10,000' the sun is 25% stronger than at the beach due to less atmospheric filtering. Very few people realize this without the sunburn lesson.

There is another option...
Put a Cascadia 4x4 hood solar panel on it. It will be similar to the hood decal and will also be functional. Which is always a great excuse. ;)

I'll look into it. Intriguing. We are at 1260' elevation. I used to get burned more in NY than here. The summer air temps makes it feel like the sun is hotter. Oh, who am I kidding? It's a freaking blast furnace at times!

I put this black decal on my white rubi and it’s helped tremendously with glare. I initially got it to reduce glare once I put a-pillar lights on but it’s already made a huge difference.

As far as sourcing it, I got mine from @pixeldecals. The quality is beyond what I’d expected and installation was simple enough to apply myself

That’s an awesome rig - and service pit! What part of Mesa are you in? We built a house just north of Ellsworth & McDowell on county island back in 03 (usery pass road). We moved away in 2012

We are off of Ellsworth and Southern. (Also county island) Alot has changed since you left. Condo's, restaurants, new homes, fancy churches and infill. We moved from south chandler to this area in 2014. The crackhead central has all be eliminated and their mobile homes are being swept away for nice modern multifamily housing. Traffic has grown and we are just about ready to move ourselves. Thought about Tennessee or Kentucky. Then the housing market softened taking our potential retirement earnings with it...

Well I hope the AZ market heats up again soon…

We are heading out your way this Christmas, visiting my daughter - actually staying in usery mountain regional park campground. Bringing the jeep of course! Looking forward to seeing the old ‘hood and all the new growth.

Any good trails you could recommend?
