Is an OHV permit required for 4-wheeling a JL in Colorado? I realize that many don't care, but I'd like to know the actual requirement. This is what I've found so far. It's clear as mud whether I need the permit to do trails such as Holy Cross City or Imogene.
From the website https://cpw.state.co.us/buyapply/Pages/RegistrationsOHV.aspx
Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) include: Plated, street-legal vehicles, full-size 4 x 4s…when operating on public lands and/or OHV designated trails in Colorado.
Colorado OHV Permits (Nonresidents or Plated, Street-Legal Vehicles): All Non-Resident OHVs must have one valid OHV Permit properly displayed on and affixed to the vehicle or carry the valid bright green OHV Permit. A Colorado OHV Permit is required for all plated, street legal vehicles (resident and nonresident) when traveling on any designated OHV trail and/or open area for recreational use on public lands. The OHV Permit sticker must be properly displayed on the vehicle or the owner must carry the non-stick bright green OHV Permit. This includes vehicles with Colorado license plates and/or other states.

Colorado OHV Use Permit Requirements
“All OHVs and motor vehicles that display a valid Colorado or out-of -state license plate must also display a current Colorado OHV use permit sticker when operated on any designated OHV trails in Colorado.” “All out of state OHVs (including OHVs that display an out of state OHV registration) must also display a current Colorado OHV use permit sticker when operated on any designated OHV trails or routes in Colorado.”
