Cold Weather Group Explained

Hey guys, I' new to the group and have a question. I' trying to put myself in a position to purchase a JLUR and still deciding options.
I don't really care.for heated seats but I love remote start. If I just get remote start and skip out on the cold weather group will my heater still automatically turn on under 40F if I start the jeep remotely?

Since all of the Rubicons have auto climate control now, it sure will. Just leave it set at something reasonable like 70 degrees and the Jeep will figure out if it needs to heat or cool.

I ordered the cold weather group and was told the engine block heater was included. I just looked on the drivers side and it’s not there. On my window price/options sheet, The cold weather group is listed but the heater is not listed. The dealer said it was included. Seems he was wrong?

I think some people were reporting that they removed the block heater from the cold weather group on the online configurator, and it's now a separate option. Not sure why they would do this.

So it's possible @Sluggo that your dealer was still under the impression that it was included, but that your order was placed after the change was made to the configurations. I hope they will do the right thing and install it free of charge for you. Otherwise I don't think it's that expensive to add parts wise, not sure about labour. You'll definitely want to have that block heater in Wisconsin.

This is why @JeepCares even though you can legally reserve the right to change configurations at any time, it's a really dumb, stupid, idiotic business practice to actually do so, that only confuses and alienates your customers and dealers.

I think they dropped the engine heater and added remote ignition start for automatics only.

My dealer texted me today and said the only block heater is the one for the JK. Anyone get a block heater in thier JL?

You can select an optional block heater for the JL on the online configurator on the Jeep.com website. They even have a picture of it. Take a screen cap and show your dealer.

Maybe he meant the only one they have in stock is for the JK?

I got one with my rubicon. I ordered in January. Maybe they changed it since then?

It shows as stock on my build sheet not as an option. Might be included as part of the Canadian Mkt. Specifications.

I haven't actually looked for it to be honest.

Yeah, FCA includes a block heater standard on all (or nearly all) vehicles sold in Canada.

Now I've honestly never used it so it may or may not be there depending if it was welded on, it could possibly have been deactivated during an OTA update or it might just be really noisy... idk

If it's there, you should find a wrapped up, 3 prong plug, on the right side of the engine bay. It was part of the cold weather group when I ordered. (November).
