Hi, I ordered a 2022 JLUR back in Jan 2022 and have been driving it since the end of June.
I've noticed that the climate controller seems to act odd, or at least it doesn't respond to temperature changes like I'd expect.

For example, if I set the climate to Auto, things seem to work normally. I usually have it set to "Sync" and when I input the temperature, all seems ok. If I take it off auto and select the Defrost mode for the front windshield, the fan speed jumps up to nearly the fastest speed and I can't seem to control the temperature very well.
On a damp, foggy morning I may need to blow a bit of warm air on the windshield to keep it from condensing and fogging up so let's say the outside air is 60 deg F and I set the temperature to 70 I get cold air. I turn it up to 72, cold air, 74..cold air, then 76..... Eventually, the air will get very warm, if not hot so i'll start to bring it down, back to 70....still hot....i give up after a few minutes and leave it alone...next thing i know is the air blowing out of the vent is cold again...start over...
anyone else seen this? i'm wondering where the interior temp sensor is and if it's any good.

I have. No clue why this happens either.

It's all part of the automatic systems Jeep installed. The older Jeeps you set the knob position and that is what you got until you moved the switch. The newer system is all ambient temp based. When the temp hits your number the heater stops blowing hot. Or it overshoots the temp and then blows outside air to cool back down to your setting. It never stays stable warm or cold.

Also when you hit that defrost button it signals for max defrost. Full fan on the window. Just use the selector for the fan to move to the window defrost vents. Doing that won't changed the fan speed

sounds great....
I own a Toyota Highlander with similar climate control functions but when you set a temperature on the Toyota display, it seems to function as one would expect. if 70 deg is a bit warm, go down to 68 or 67, adjusts very quickly without any noticeable overshooting. This Jeep system seems to "overshoot" the setpoint so badly that you really can't even call it that. almost as if whatever internal mechanism it uses to direct cold/warm air has only two positions, open/closed, regardless what the setpoint has been set to. doesn't seem like this technology would be tough to reproduce across vehicle makes.

Same issue here, not sure why it behaves this way. My first Jeep (JK, 2010) had perfect and simple A/C control but I've driven/owned 3 JL's (all 2020+) that have temp control issues. I figured this has something to do with the programming of the new Jeeps, thought about taking it to the dealer under warranty but it sounds like there isn't a fix for it.

You know, it was for exactly these kinds of foreseeable problems with a non-intuitive, touch screen-controlled climate control system, that I opted to forego the air conditioning in my 2022 Willys Sport, JUST to be able to have the simple, straightforward, traditional knob-controlled system that vehicles have always had until recently. But I guess that simple, easy system was not good enough for the engineers obsessed with mindlessly forcing every possible mechanical system to an electronic one, leading to predictable and nonsensical situations such as the OP relates.

As I use, and have always used and adjusted, my climate controls multiple times almost every time I drive, having to deal with the insanity of the current JL climate controls might well have been a complete deal-breaker for me. In particular, it seems absolutely insane to me to force ANY commonly used functions in a vehicle, such as climate control settings, through a touch screen. This can only lead to increased driver distraction, and accidents, and deaths.

There are buttons for it too, but all the same the functionality shouldn't be hard to design properly. If anything, the fact that it runs through the computer should make this a way easier thing to fix with a patch or OTA.
