I haven't had time to check the torque on the ball joints. Hopefully doing that tomorrow. However, I noticed my clicking noise started after the first time I disconnected the sway bar. When I went to disengage the sway bar it didn't disengage until I started moving and it made a clicking noise. This is my first Rubicon, so I'm not sure if that is normal. Another thing I notice is that I will hear the clicking noise when I am going straight, at 25-35mph, when I hit a bump. Is anyone else noticing that as well, or just on turns?

Was yours fixed?
Mine started around 7k miles also. I took mine in 10 days ago and they still haven’t given me a straight answer on what wrong yet. I am supposed to get my Jeep back today, we shall see

@rustyshakelford have you heard about this or know anyone that heard experienced it? I think this is the clack I am hearing now. Gonna try to tighten the ball joints this weekend. Just asking if you know anything about it considering your the most knowledgeable one I know for tee JL's

Also get the noise, however don’t care to look into because it’s only at low speed/pulling out of garage kind of speeds.when doing the mopar lift double checked every torque spec on major components and everything was fine.

I haven’t! Let me know about the ball joints. Seems like a unlikely culprit but sometimes its something out of the norm that’ll get ya

Hi all I've been noticing a clicking noise that seems to be coming from the from driver side wheel well only when I turn right.

Unless it also happens when I turn right and I'm just not hearing it.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm probably going to take it into the dealer, feel like something isn't tightened and hoping it's not u joint already going bad.
Mine has been doing it when turning right more than left, and now I’ve got an annoying squeak that happens every time I stop, regardless of how fast I’m going. Can’t pinpoint it either, so back to the dealer I go.

2019 JLUR with 8k miles. All four ball joints under torqued. Didn't want to screw with the dealership so I went by my off-road shop, who quickly checked and tightened them up for me. No more noise.

Sigh. Same clicking sounds for my 18 JLUR with 12,000 miles. I get a single click when turning in either direction and also hear a click when backing out of the garage. I had all steering components torqued to spec by myself and the dealer and no clicks for a while....then they came back. I've read this thread and don't really see a common reason for these ghost clicks. Supposed to take it into the dealer for the steering stabilized recall in a couple weeks and maybe that will take care of it again....for a few weeks.

I believe Most here have multiple metallic clicks when turning. There is a video of it a few pages back you should checkout if you haven’t already.

The click in reverse might be the drive shaft engagement. Was told reverse clunk was normal

I’ll have a update soon as I dropped the Jeep off to a new dealer Thursday. This dealership was just purchased by same folks that own a large auto group known for customer service. We shall see....

They are checking the clicks, the newly developed loose steering, slight wandering issue and applying a few tsb’s for those issues. So far 3rd day and no info yet.

I have a star case opened up for my clicking issue. Waiting on the dealer to have a loaner available so I can drop it off and have them figure it out

My star case on the clicking was opened months ago with 0 answer. Unless my or your dealer gets lucky it’s a wild goose chase. It’s just annoying at times but I don’t want to damage something that could’ve been prevented.

I’m still leaning towards it being in the driveline axels or the sway bar disconnect. Hopefully we’ll find out sooner than later.

I have a clicking noise in the front driver tire area, but it happens more when slowing down from 30 mph to 0 while going straight. I have tightened the ball joints and it still happens. The dealer just blamed it on my lift or steer smart steering components. But it happens on other Jeeps that are stock. I can get it to click once by turning the tires back and forth while parked. But that is a single click and not the multiple click sound I get when slowing down. Might be something with the brakes?

No clue what it is yet and my dealer is useless.

It's funny you should say the away bar disconnect, as I don't have that in my Jeep. Not saying it couldn't be that, but if it's the same type of noise I'm getting I don't think it would be that. My guess is it has something to do with one of the steering bars or possibly axle/driveshaft/u-joint related. They replaced the wheel bearing and it didn't fix it. Pretty sure the noise is getting worse and it's definitely happening more now too. It's concerning me to drive lately since it's getting that frequent

Mine has not changed in sound or frequency of the clicks since day one. I changed dealerships to get a second opinion. If that fails then ill go to plan yellow after the 3rd failed attempt at the repair. What concerns me is if its a metal to metal contact that will cause a failure, or premature wear on a part. I do know is that its repeatable and many Jeeps here local from sports to Rubicons have the exact same click sound. FYI mines done it since day 1 and @10800 miles sounds the same as it did with 5 miles on the OD.

My ball joints were torqued down at the dealer i visually saw this and chatted with the tech as he went through my Jeeps frontend. The tech did find some loose parts in my front end and adjusted them accordingly. It did not cure the clicking like it did for some here. It also didnt help with the wandering and play in the steering hence the reason i took it to dealer #2. Its always good to get a second opinion. It also seems to be on Lifted and non lifted Jeeps as well. The quest for knowledge continues ;).

below is a link to the post with the sound.
