If this has been shared before I apologize but while tinkering around the Jeep today installing some Delrin bushings in my hinges I decided to see if I could use an old golf cart mirror I had laying around. Removing the bolt in the cowl closest to the door I found that one of the hardtop bolts fit and was long enough to allow a spacer between the L bracket of the mirror and the cowl. I dug around for some washers and even tried a socket as a spacer (too long) but finally found a nut that was the perfect size. Tightened it up and adusted it and took it for a test ride and it is very stable even over railroad tracks and up to 50-55 mph. This is just a standard 5" golf cart mirror which can probably be found pretty cheap and whatever spacer setup you prefer. First pic is the shorter bolt removed and the hardtop bolt/nut combo I used
