Is there a way to change settings to allow adding a destination to NAV while driving? Every time my wife tried it would not allow because the Jeep was moving, so we had to pull over. I looked thru the NAV settings, but found nothing. I have a 2018 JL Sahara.

Not without an aftermarket programmer. Safety first.

Stupid nanny feature. I ordered a Tazer. IMPO, if there's a passenger in the front seat, the Nav lock-out should automatically be disabled.

Wouldn't be any point in having that setting because everyone would just turn it off. You need a Tazer programmer to enable "nav in-motion" as mentioned above.

Just be absolutely sure you heed the Tazer JL firmware instructions and do not leave Nav in Motion turned on unless you are actively using it.

Turn on Nav In Motion, use it, and then turn it off.

Or have a "use at your own risk" acceptance screen when you attempt to input a destination while moving...GM and Toyota have been doing that for years.

Well, to me there should be no need to ask why. IF the instructions caution you to turn off when not in use you take heed and know there is a very good reason you are being told so.

Anyway, you can have Joe, explain but in earlier firmware, there were issues lets say, with Turn Cam and Nav In Motion being turned on at the same time.

With more recent firmware you are not able to have both on. Joe, programmed so you can't use both at the same time... he also started saying and also mentioning in the firmware instructions, not to leave In Motion on, if you are not using it.

I certainly understand the safety aspect of having nav in-motion enabled and the liability issues that come along with it. So it makes sense why they'd have something in writing that recommended disabling it when it's not needed. However, maybe that's not the main reason..? I'm not familiar with TurnCam, so if there are complications there, I can't comment on them.

Sure, the instructions could also be saying that for "liability" reasons.... but that is not the only reason. Again, Joe would be the one to ask. You know how things get out of sorts so to speak when repeated over and over. 8-)

Tazer will unlock it, clearly its a use common sense when driving as in have your passenger input a change of destination. Turning it off wont change anything, as the people would would do it driving weather warned or not would still do so.

I do know that if you have a Destiination stored as a favorite you can put that Destiination in from your favorites while driving. I did it just the other day! Now I did not have any other destinations selected at that time.

Same thing with trying to set my husband's phone up today. He was driving and I said "O hey let me get the phone set up for when you're in here". NOPE. The Jeep is in motion.

And this why you see people with navigation staring Google maps on their phone while driving. Make it too much a hassle and people will just find an even more distracting workaround.

I don't like a lot of the nannies any more than the next person. This one I don't mind.
Despite the fact the we are all individually "the best driver on the planet", this much distraction can endanger us and everyone else in the path of our vehicle.
Voice commands work ok, especially if using Google Maps.
