Yes just ordered mine earlier today, I have a wireless charger mount that's similar to the one in the picture. think I am going to run it behind the radio bezel. As the charger has a usb to cig lighter plug. So i'll pick up 12volts from the Aux switch spares. and ground at the passenger side kick panel grounding lugs.

Ram mount sells the phone holder, different arm lengths and the ball you can mount with a bolt to anything. I just went to ACE Hardware and got a different bolt to use with their ball that replaced the left bolt on the dash grab bar as seen in the picture that also secured the ball to the dash. If not in use you just remove it all and the ball doesn’t look to bad. And if you ever want to go back just stick the factory bolt back.

Also for the cord just get a short apple cord sold at the Apple store, if you have a iPhone. The length is perfect an wraps around the cradle but is there if you or passenger need to use it off the holder without unplugging it.

Ram mounts work great for phones

I have a Sahara and don’t have this bolt exposed. Lame. I’ve been using the Ram clamp mount on the grab handle and it works well but this just looks better.

How in the hell did you get the J-stem on your mount? I thought i was going to break something trying to force it on..

So I’m wondering if anyone here has already solved what I’m looking for - or has ideas for me.

All I need for my phone is a USB connection for CarPlay. Wish it was wireless, but it is what it is I guess.

So I’m trying to find a “dock” option for my phone in the Jeep that will connect to USB automatically for me when I put the phone in the dock.

I’m thinking maybe a dock that fits in the cup holder? Any ideas?

I took vhfan5150’s idea a step farther. Thanks for the inspiration, vhfan5150!

I took a bunch of the magical and mystical substance known as Sugru and molded a little rubber dock to secure the lightening cable upright. It is also a little rubbery, so it provides enough play to wiggle without worry of breaking when the phone is attached.

THIS is exactly like what I’ve been envisioning.

@Jeepmarkjl and @vhfan5150 and @tmo4ever - any chance any of you 3 could walk me through more of the process or give additional photos, etc? I could really use the help!

I pulled the cup holder liner out this morning (before reading the warning not to - lol). That stunk and ultimately got me nowhere.

I will order Sugru right now - any other tips, photos, etc of the process would be so helpful. Even photos of where you drilled inside the console storage, etc. would be great.

I’m really excited about this, but also don’t want to mess anything up.

Lastly - @tmo4ever - how is your setup holding up with the Sugru?

Sorry Aug, I deleted my photos I took when I did mine, but I don’t think I had any more than what has been posted here. I drilled my console hole towards the driver’s side so I could use the open channel by the e-brake to route my cord, thus obviously my hole in the cup holder was on the driver's side as well. You’re going to want a smaller drill so you can get it in the tight spaces. Trust yourself, you got this!
