Finished mine up. May move over to the recommended deutsch connectors from above with 2 or 3 pins. Maybe a project for a later date. Opens and closes perfect No adjustment needed

I went a slightly different way with my CavFab. Since I have the OEM steel bumper I did not relocate my license plate and I also did not want to have to remove or replace anything when I have to pull the spare.

To that end, I went with LOD camera relocation kit and it turned out really clean:

Were there any fitment issues using the LOD camera relocation kit when installing? I just got my CavFab tire carrier installed after it spent close to 2 years in my garage waiting on me to get it powder coated, but now that I have it mostly installed, without the license plate relocation bracket and camera mount, I think I'd like to go the same route you did.

None, you just need a longer bolt and a large fender washer that is at least 1/8" thick as a backup plate on the back side of the bracket.

The top choices are Cavfab, Motobilt, Rusty's, and Teraflex.

I would only ever opt for a seperate hinged carrier and rear bumper. My thoughts and reasoning:

The rear bumper is hard mounted to the frame, whereas the body is soft mounted to the frame, via rubber isolators, to allow independent movement. When adding something that bridges 2 independently moving points, like a rear bumper mounted tire carrier that also attaches to the body, an extra level of stress is introduced. Not only does the single cantilevered pivot arm have to support the weight of the carrier and spare, it's also going to try to limit the body from moving on its rubber mounts. Inevitably, something has to give, and it will. It's just a matter of what gives first. That's why the only bumper mounted carriers that are quiet, are the ones that haven't been on the Jeep for too long. Again, just my thoughts.
Love the honesty of your reasoning.. I am in the process of looking for a new rear bumper and tire carrier and now wondering if Cavfab. Teraflex or Rusty's would be the best choice?

Pick the one you like. You’ll be happy with whichever. I’ve done some hard wheeling with my @CavFab_mfg bumper and tire carrier. Rubicon, all around Texas. About 50k miles on the setup that I removed from my previous JlUR. About two weeks ago I did a tire rotation and noticed my spare was loose, the bracket had loosened all around carrying a 37 and now 38s. Understandable. Tightened it all up and all good. I noticed recently the tub is slightly rubbed off where the rear bumper is. I’ve seen some max articulation on my jeep so I can see that happening. I plan to tighten up the bumper bolts up soon too.

May be biased, but I do not think you will find a carrier that has more thought put into the design than ours, especially for the price.

As far as bumper go, we have several different rear JL options, something to suit everyones personal taste. Each of these start from a nice sheet of American steel in our facility, get laser cut and formed in house, welded, and finished before being packed and sent out after passing a rigorous QC check.
Also, we have a forum discount :P
