Lots of us love car play but truly hate the cord and I don’t like Uconnect and since I don’t have the 8.4 with Nav I rely on Apple Maps and CarPlay but as I said I hate plugging it in all the time so I picked up Carlink 2.0 last week and spent all of about 5 mins getting it plugged in and working and so far after 1 day it’s worked flawlessly.
I did not do a software update and one review I saw on youtube advised only do the update if it does not work so thats what I followed and I pretty much tried everything to make it not work and I could not, the longest it took to connect was 15 secs but for the most part it was almost an immediate connection as it seems if i got in the Jeep and just took a min to get settled and seat belt on along with just getting settled before pushing the ignition it gives the adapter time to connect behind the scenes so there is no lag time once I start but if I hit the ignition as soon as I get in a connection screen pops up and takes about 15 secs to connect and all works automatically with no interaction on my part.
The audio is a tad off compared to having it plugged in but not enough to really complain and I went rapidly thru all the carplay choices like maps, music, messages, making phone calls etc...trying to get it to lock up and it worked flawless so time will tell how it goes and I have about a month before my return window closes so will use it a lot and see what happens but if it continues to work as it has been I will be happy, I also read where some said if they shifted into reverse before it connected on some other wireless CarPlay adapters it locked up, well I tried multiple times with this one and it still worked perfect.
There also is a USB plug on the other end so you could and I did plug in the charging cable to it while it was working wirelessly and it still continued to work perfectly and started to charge my phone but since I have the adapter tucked into a little cubby behind the shifter since I don’t have the aux switches and sway bar disconnect I will likely not use that feature and instead I had a usb cord that I plugged into a adapter that plugs into the 12 volt socket on the left side and when plugging the phone in it still worked perfectly and I am guessing the adapter does not see that as a USB adapter so that’s perfect for me.
here are a few links to what I purchased for those who are interested, so far I am loving being cord free.
