Looking at BBAT:

Baja Boss A T
Size: 37X12.50R17LT

Material #: 247490
Legacy Material #: 90000036824
Legacy Part #: 53772
Product #: 331040001

Also going to install Clayton Offroad 2.5 overland plus and they require 4.75 backspacing, said nothing about offset.
I am looking at this wheel with zero offset - 701 | Matte Black – MR70178550500 – Method Race Wheels
  • Part NumberMR70178550500
  • Wheel Diameter (in)17
  • Wheel Width (in)8.5
  • Bolt Pattern5x127 (5x5)
  • Offset (mm)0
  • Hub Bore (mm)71.5
  • Back Spacing (in)4.75
  • Wheel Weight (lbs)31.69
  • Max Load (lbs)2650
Anyone running this combo?

8 1/2” wheel 0 offset is 4.75” backspace. The question is ?
BTW- 12.50’s tread is ~ even with XR extensions

 clearly I do not understand offset and backspace. Sigh.

Just trying to get a 2nd set of eyes on the combination and ensure I dont have send anything back because of my lack of knowledge.

Wouldn't that be 4.25" backspacing (half of 8.5 width)? Or, are you adding 1/2" for bead seat?

Using the posted tiresize.com site chart. According to it -12mm is 4.25” . Basically yes, if I understand you correctly.
Wheel backspacing is the distance in inches from the wheel mounting surface to the inside edge of the wheel. The wheels width is from the mounting points of the tire beads, therefore the measured width of a wheel from outside edge to outside edge is about an inch wider than spec.

Aah, I see. If wheel width is measured from bead seal to bead seal, and the distance from bead to edge of wheel is being called 1/2", then 4.75" for backspacing is correct. Given most people would measure from the edge of the wheel, 4.75" is better than the actual 4.25".

I recently made the same mistake ordering water timers. Water pipes are inside measurements. Ordered 1”, needed 3/4”, and had to get reducers, oops.
