Hi all. So I’m trying to get my door back on for the first time and the bottom pin won’t go all the way in. Any ideas? The door closes but this doesn’t seem right. The top pin is perfect. . Appreciate any help thanks.

This is a known issue..

The hinge liners are not the greatest and are easy to replace, it happens a lot when foot pegs are used as the hinge liner gets damaged when you have a foot peg in there and put lateral force against it but they are fairly cheap to replace.

In older Jeep’s these were made of metal but the newer style are made of a hard nylon material

Thanks for the feedback. Any harm in leaving it like this and driving around until the spring when the doors come back off. Both front doors have the same issue and I did have a foot peg there back door went on easy.
Thanks for the feedback.

I replaced a set on a Jeep that were damaged and left unattended and they were a huge pain to drive out with the included tool but these were the older metal ones so not sure how the newer style would do, my concern would be if the nylon liners are damaged and say broke then the hinge pin is sitting in a larger hole and it’s a metal to metal rub and it may cause excessive wear on the pin or hinge or both so IMHO I would get a set of liners and just replace the bottom ones and keep the others as spares

Also if you decide to replace them before tapping then new hinge liners in make sure they easily slide over the door hinge pin and sand the pin as necessary, it’s easier to do before putting them in trust me , also grease the pin and liner sleeve well before hanging the door

I had one door that was difficult to get back on and that's without anything like footpegs used. Made me a bit cautious.

I would love to take my doors off and the hinge pin liners are the least of my worries, it’s the elec door connectors that scare me as I have heard horror stories about pins coming out or power windows not working when reconnected

I have not heard about the electrical problems. I've had my doors off many times and never an electrical issue. I wouldn't let that stop you from taking the doors off.

I have read a few posts about the door connectors getting damaged when taking them apart, like pins pulling out and then getting a dash warning when plugging back in or windows or mirrors not working.

They say the connector or poorly designed and not beefy but I have never tried to take it apart
