Yep, you all have good eyes. I got back last night to look at it and it was a huge oops. I must have been drinking that night as I don't even know how it was possible to secure it like that. Live and learn. I'll take a look at the Metal Cloak option. Is it necessary to weld back the old or can the bracket just be installed over the top?
While I would repair the hole before installing the new bracket simply because I have the tools and equipment to do so I wouldn’t worry much about it. No way would I take it to a shop and pay them to weld up the existing bracket.

And thankfully it failed when and where it did. That could have been a horrible experience under different circumstances

Agreed! Luckily my wife travels the backroads. Thanks for the advice on the repair. Any specific bracket that you would recommend?

I have no experience with any particular brackets but would expect anything from Artec or Metal Cloak would do the job just fine.

A little early for taking the old lady out, but yeah, I’m glad she wasn’t hurt. She drives slow so was able to recover. Both sides of the bracket tore out which is the puzzling part. I read that there were some recall issues with this mount in 2018/19. Not sure if there is any relation but can’t explain it really. I’ve got an appointment to have the original mount welded up and then I’ll use the synergy bracket as a replacement.
I would go with the Steer Smarts. I had the Synergy and it was junk.
