Jeep Wrangler JL Brake Light Relocation (Mopar CHMSL and others) Mopar CHMSL

I installed the Mopar CHMSL (3rd brake light relocation). I really like the look. However, a couple things I don't like are:

1) it was ridiculously expensive for what it is;
2) looks like a total PITA whenever you want to remove the spare.

Would have to unscrew the light from the bracket, then unscrew the bracket from the extended lugs, then feed light through wheel spokes to get it out of the way, then finally remove the 3 wheel lugs to remove spare.

- I routed the brake wire through the top wheel spoke, is there a better way to do it?
- Any suggestions for better products that are similar in appearance but allow removal of spare to be easier?

I've seen the Teraflex one in pictures but checking their website it looks like you have to buy the spare tire mount, brake light and camera mount all as one (too expensive for me).

If you have a better solution (looks/function) please share. Recommendations please...

Connecting and disconnecting the connector from the Mopar CHMSL is not only a pain but will lead to damaging the connection at some point. To resolve that (and make life easy for me) I cut the cable about a foot back and inserted a Deutsch connector inline. Now I just disconnect the Deutsch connector and leave the Mopar CHMSL connected full time.

I am not in a position to provide a picture at the moment.

I noticed that you were able to retain the protective shield around your back up camera. Did it fit straight on or require and modifications? Thank you

I have the CHMSL relocator installed. Camera bezel is not impacted at all by by the relocator.

Also.... It only takes an extra say, additional 1 min. to remove the spare, but no big deal at all.

Thank you, upon closer inspection I notice that the protective locking shroud is not installed in the picture above.

That was a stock photo to show the CHMSL. I do not have a close up pic of mine but again, the bezel fits on aok... the relocator has no impact at all on the bezel.

Mine was a pain to fit on but after several years without it I forgot all about it.
