Willet is a great, standard bourbon. It's tasty but not overly complex. The bottle, while often difficult to fit on a shelf, makes a great conversation starter. The two I was looking at were Willet Pot Still Reserve and Basil Hayden's, anyone have thoughts on those?
Basil Hayden is a staple in many people's bars. It's a bourbon, but it has a higher percentage of rye in the mash bill, so it's a little bit spicier. It's low proof, so this counteracts the added spice and helps keep it as an easy drinker. Also makes a great mixer. It's a good stepping stone into full rye whiskies.
