Might be worth changing the PCV. The difference between just some smoke and damage is a very fine line when a "slug of oil" is involved. The PCV is a suspect and it's fairly inexpensive. They also have revised it at least once. So there's an issue they're chasing. Maybe yours.

Happened to me at least 5 times since new.
Always happens after long drives.
Usually after driving 3 hours to see family. I cut it off and let it sit for about 4 hours, start it up and it smokes blue for about 5 seconds. I wonder if the dealership could be overfilling the oil? 13,500 miles currently.

You need to be checking the oil yourself.

In my case, the oil is definitely not overfilled and does the same thing. I have never had it do it when the dealer looks at it, and they can find nothing. Happens once a month or so. I dont use oil between changes (at least not enough that is noticeable)

Hi everyone,

I have a 7 month old 2024 jeep rubicon 4xe with about 4,500 miles on it and had an issue with blue smoke today. I remote started the car and when I came out there was a pretty big plume of blue smoke. While driving, it went away, but had a burning smell in the cabin for part of the time.

After driving a few miles, I popped the hood to check the oil. The dipstick was within the required amount, but definitely smelled a bit like gas. I am scheduled with the dealer in 2 days to get it checked out and have the oil changed.

Any thoughts? Has anyone else had similar issues with the 2.0L?

One day when my Jeep had around 3500 miles, upon start up, cold engine, a huge plume of blue smoke came out of the exhaust. Lasted a few seconds before clearing up. I kept an eye on it, didn't happen again until.....2 years and 16,500 miles later. Did it again. I'm talking a huge bellow of blue smoke. Enough that it was embarrassing because everyone at work thought my engine was on fire! That was a month ago and it hasn't happened again.

The local mechanic said maybe when the engine was turned off, it just so happened to have stopped when one of the valves was open and a little bit of oil dripped into the combustion chamber.

Weird situation. I guess if it happens every 16,500 miles i can live with it!

Anyone else ever had an issue like this with the 3.6?
Valve seals maybe?

Ya only if clean coolant. But I wouldn’t want to argue with an expert.

If we are going to get into the ifs and maybes. If he ran smokeless engine oil he would never see blue smoke even if it was mixed with the coolant. If oil is mixing with the coolant, and it's burning coolant through the exhaust he has way bigger problems than worrying about a little smoke.
