My JLU Sport S has a little over 1500 miles on it. I DO NOT drive it hard. Actually most would say that I'm pretty easy on it because I'm always keeping fuel economy in mind. Today I remote started it (which I rarely do) and I saw a decent sized cloud of smoke float out from behind it as I was walking up to it. This is pretty disturbing to have happen on a brand new vehicle. Anyone else experiencing this or know anything about it? I intend to talk to the service manager at my dealership about it tomorrow but I thought I would ask around in here before I heard whatever excuse he might give me.

I was a little distance away when I noticed coming out from behind the jeep but I would say it had a bit of a bluish tint to it which led me to believe it was oil. So my initial thought was that it was oil getting past the rings while it was sitting. Which is completely unacceptable. So I decided to get it up fo so my initial thought was that it was oil getting past the rings while it was sitting. Which is completely unacceptable. So I decided to hit up the forum to see if anyone here had any insight.

Before rings I'd suspect a valve guide seal. Rings usually don't quit smoking. Valve guide seal will smoke after setting for awhile then clear up. There's other things that could cause that. With out seeing it it's hard to say.

Thanks. But whatever it is don't you agree that it's unacceptable from a brand new vehicle?

Did you ever find the reason for this? I noticed it on mine as well today.....

No updates yet guys. I'm waiting for my service manager to get back from vacation. I'll hopefully have more info on Monday.

It's (1) water vapor condensation or (2) your Jeep is bogarting a joint.

Hi myerides,
We know you work at the dealer, but we can see if we are able to offer an additional layer of assistance on this. If this is something you are interested in, please send us a PM with additional details.

I started my 2018 JLU Sport S yesterday and watched in amazement as a huge cloud of blue smoke wafted up behind me and floated slowly over the one story building I was parked next to. The jeep had been parked for two days. I checked the oil later and it has used 1/2 qt in the 2600 miles I've put on it. Very worrisome. My JKU didn't use that much in all the time I had it. I drive like an old man because I am, and because my dog, who is always with me, won't wear his seat belt. 23.5 to 24 mpg, so you know how hard I'm beating it. It'll take a week or so to get into the dealer, but I'll be back to post what happens. TKS

I haven't seen this on mine. But it sounds like either valve guide seals or oil in the EGR. Have you guys changed your oil yet, by chance? I'm curious if this is happening on the factory fill, or "aftermarket" oil.

Mine is on Dealer oil, 2600 miles of easy driving. Scheduled for service on the 31st, first available slot. I trust the dealer.

This also happened to me today, went over to a friends house to help out on some IT stuff, was there about three hrs and decided to remote start while heading to my Jeep and noticed some blueish/white smoke coming out. It lasted only a moment and then disappeared....I only have 1,387 miles on it. I guess I need to head to the dealership next week. Hope this does not become some issue?
