So my 2020 got the infamous blank cluster screen. Tried to buy a new cluster, none in stock that I could find, plus the issue of keeping the displayed mileage correct. Let a mechanic charge me $400 to try updating software, changed nothing.

I tore my cluster apart, and got down to the screen itself without much trouble. The worst part was pulling the needles off, there are YouTube videos out there showing how for swapping gauge backgrounds. Here is a pic of the backside of the screen. If you search for that part number on the back, LAM070G133A, they will pop up on eBay brand new for $219.

Put a new screen in and I'm back in business, it even displays the correct mileage.

I wouldn't recommend this to someone who isn't handy with tools and small delicate parts, and wouldn't recommend anyone with no patience or a "charge ahead" attempt it. But, I had no problem with it, I found it surprisingly easy. You need a T10 and a T8 Torx driver, and a plastic prying tool or two for getting the needles off.

Hope this helps somebody!

That's awesome that it displays the original mileage! I thought I read on the forum if you swapped the entire cluster it would pick up where it left off in the other vehicle, but replacing that screen basically does the same thing...hmmm, might wanna experiment with the JLs I have here and see what happens haha.

In the reading I did, it seemed like older generations would correct, but the JL will not.

I think the reason it works is because you're only replacing the screen, the computer chip that stores the mileage is on the circuit board the screen plugs into, so the mileage stays ?

Ah, that makes sense!

Hey Porter, thank you for posting this tip. We also are having the same issue. Blank screen. For awhile, it flickered on and off like a wire was loose. Now it has been totally blank for a couple of weeks. Jeep dealer recommended we replace the entire instrument panel for $1600+. Would it be possible if we send you a few questions? New to this forum and not sure if there is a way to send a direct message. Thank you!

Sure, there is a direct message feature. I think you should be able to click my username at the top left of my post and see that option available.

@Portmod7 my cluster is out as well. So thats all you did was replace the screen and plugged it all back in and your "old" milage was there? Also, was it difficult to remove the screen from the clusters housing? And last... where did you get the screen? Is it a OEM mopar screen? Thanks

Here is my 2020 JL cluster :(

This is the screen available for purchase on eBay. I believe it is the same manufacturer as the Mopar screen, they look identical.

The mileage will pop back up and be correct, no issue there.

I found that removing the needles on the tach and speedo was the hardest and most stressful part. The rest comes apart with little torx screws and easy to release clips.

The communication ribbon for the screen just plugs in to a socket, so no soldering or anything like that, but delicate hands are advised. There is a latching mechanism on the socket you have to release before it will unplug.

I found all of these videos very helpful when preparing to do mine. The last one is a cluster screen repair from a truck, shows I little more in depth of how the clusters are put together. However, I haven't found one that deals specifically with replacing the LCD in our specific clusters. The last video is a guy who does electronics for a living, VERY informative on the technical details.

I found it fairly intuitive to take the cluster apart, I just kept removing screws until I got where I needed to be.
