While prepping my JL for some temporary storage this winter, I was cleaning and detailing some of the JL like I normally do. The wild part was taking a few pics during it all and the wild color shift when waxing the hood. I left a bright yellow microfiber in the hopes of capturing how good the color is on the hood. Funny surprise when the pic came out a brilliant blue color and the yellow got washed out. I guess I need to get back to my Color Science background to figure this one out.

A few pics from the day.

P.S. While this does get lightly trail driven in the Smokey Mountains at least once a year and the Southern Tier of New York State, I do consider it my late life Corvette. Why? I can’t get in and out of a Vette, but I fall out of this just fine! LOL!

I’ve said for many years that this is a great colour and warrants the question:

Q: Is bikini blue or green?
A: Yes

I'm mid 50s with a bad back. One of the reasons I gave my kid my C3 Corvette is I could barely get in and out of it. It's all crossovers, SUVs or trucks for me from now on.

I hear ya there. Seems like my grandkids are already lining up to see who might get the Jeep. But I’ll keep on with it till I can’t. I’m 67 with my own medical issues, some from 24 years in the service. But I seem to be well cared for. Not as spry as I used too, but understanding your limits really helps.

The color depends a lot on the lighting. Trying to capture the color with a camera, and worse a cellphone camera, can be difficult because the camera will try to adjust the color to compensate for the light source. I don't see very many Jeeps in this color, always in daylight. Seeing them in photos they can look very different depending on the lighting.

Depending on the phone you're using (assuming a phone), it could be the color science of the phone itself.
Having the yellow rag there may have skewed the RGB to pop more yellow on the rag and wash it out of the paint.

That said my hydro blue wrangler changes depending on lighting as well. Cheers

Well aware of RGB, CMYK and other Color Science type things. I worked at Eastman Kodak as a Senior Technician in R&D for Digital programs. Worked closely with other companies that we helped to bring products to the market to include Apple. Worked on many special programs for the Government Systems Division in my time also. The 80’s and 90’s at EK were wonderful times to be sure, but some of us were tossed aside in the early 2000’s. I had some great times though!

I love the bikini color. It's my favorite color for a Jeep. When I ordered mine, no dealership had a bikini Jeep on the lot within a ~60 min radius, and I didn't like the pictures of it on the build a Jeep page. A few months after mine was delivered, I saw a couple bikinis in person, saw the color change in different lighting—even natural light between full sun and shade—, and I thought, "Damn, that's a good color." I don't regret ocean blue (it's also a great color), but if I could go back, I'd order bikini.

Bikini is a really difficult color to photograph accurately. My iPhone notoriously grabs the blue in the color. I have to color correct every time to the closest actual color. It's both blue and green and depending on the light can show one more than the other.
There's a lot of blue in the first pic. A lot more green in the 2nd pic and the more accurate blend of both in the 3rd.
I'm wondering if the 2024 color will be the same or will it be without the pearl, like they did with the Compass.

I really wish either were available when I was ordering. Sarge green is a great color on a Jeep, but Ocean and Bikini blue are beautiful colors.
